I'll be there. Was supposed to meet up with Coll down there, but it looks like he's bailing on me.

Howdy folks
Sorry I didn't get a chance to look at this. I noticed the tides may have the potential for some Redondo River action tonight. Just FYI. Probably too late to reschedule this to TTN?

Six cars plus late notice = Redondo river. We will just dive the south side where the river is less pronounced.

Kirsten, we did not.

I have 190 dives at Redondo and have experienced the river 2x and I never check current or tides there. Once was mild and the second was pretty scary. I was at the VW bug (on a solo dive). The river started to move pretty hard, I saw debris and kelp flying past me heading downslope. I simply hugged the bottom and swam diagonally and got out of the current at about 30'. With that being said, I have had worse currents and situations at Saltwater, Fox Island West, Three Tree, Alki, Hood Canal, etc. which are all deemed at relatively "safe" dives. My point is that the river is no different than other upwelling, downwelling, current, other other dangerous conditions we face here in the PNW. I know people have been caught in the river and had very bad experiences, so I am not poo-poo it. I just think a general awareness is important as it should be with any PNW dive. IMO if there is a danger of the River, all other sites will be dicey too.

As Gdog said though the viz was not great at all.

Thanks for the info...
I have only experienced it a couple of times as well. At times it is a weird current...other times it is mostly going down slope.
With that, it's best to be aware of what the tides/currents are predicted at any given site on any day.
