Know any good diving related videos and documentaries?
Know any good diving related videos and documentaries?
I want to load up my iphone with videos to watch while working out. Any suggestions for good scuba videos/programs/documentaries/etc?
Re: Know any good diving related videos and documentaries?
Check out DCS films,
http://www.dcsfilms.com
Also you could search you tube for dive videos unless you don't have wi-fi or reception where you work out.

Thanks, but I meant like NatGeo or PBS or other full featured documentaries.

Water's Journey: The Hidden Rivers of Florida is a very cool one. A couple of divers explore one of the Florida caves, and some guys on the surface follow their radio transmissions. Some beautiful cave diving footage, and the whole concept is kind of cool.
Nova's Extreme Cave Diving is also a very cool documentary with some spectacular footage of the Abaco caves, although the whole dear diver thing is hokey.

Thanks for the suggestions, Lynne. I've seen the Nova docu, but I'll definitely look for Water's Journey.

Here's a link to some ADM cave diving videos: http://www.advanceddivermagazine.com/video.html
Since you are looking for "diving" videos, ignore the equipment and presentation ones - look at the videos at the top on the bottom of the list of offerings for what you have in mind. Poke around the video part of the site to see what else you can find.

There's also some interesting "openwater" videos if you poke around.

Not only is this PERFECT workout footage, but it will also sharpen gas planning skills, and other important diving things....

Koos, my first reaction to that list is that somebody needs to get a life . . .
The Mysterious Malady DVD is WELL worth watching. I wouldn't really call it a documentary, but I found it fascinating. It's in chapters, so you don't have to overload yourself with information in one sitting.

FWIW Pod Diver Radiois updating their podcast sporadically but has switched RSS Feeds and hasn't done a good job of keeping their iTunes listing updated. Joe occasionallyproduces some video content too. Defiantly a different approach to diving that I take but he does post some decent content.

"The Sacred Truth: The Blue Hole of Dahab" (2007, Elena Konstantinoff Films)
This feature length documentary (TRT: 88, formated in 2 parts for broadcast) has been 4 years in the making. A labor of love by Elena Konstantinou, the film investigates mysterious scuba diving fatalities in the Blue Hole, near the fishing village of Dahab, Egypt. Since it's discovery, during Israel's occupation of the Sinai Peninsula, the death toll, over 120 and rising, is vastly out of proportion with statistical comparisons to other, often more difficult dive sites around the globe.
Search for it on YT. Here's the first of 6 or so episodes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPebO9u- ... re=channel
Also on YT, a short film about Dave Shaw:

Cheers.
