Re: HOG regulators
The inferior quality of the metals and chrome coating used is a MAJOR issue. Having serviced around thirty of them and discovering flaws in worksmanship and quality controll. And after seeing several customers have serious issues with them I have pulled them off my store shelves. People dont get how...

The Gopro is an awesome camera, but you may want to mount it onto something big ( Scooter? ) to help with shakey video. the smaller your camera the easier it picks up minute vibrations in the hand holding it and you get vibrations in your footage. mounting it to a scooter is like a massive sea ancho...

Re: HOG regulators
Be very carefull cleaning them after every dive. The chrome is thin and flakes off easily if the reg isnt cleaned properly and the brass under the chrome begins to corrode. The last one I serviced was completely ruined because the gap between the diaphram cap and the reg body had trapped saltwater a...

Also keep in mind that if you make the jump into a DSLR you will have it with you on photo dives only. ie. if you have it with you the dive is dedicated to photography. Gone are the days you can simply slip your camera into your pocket in case you see something you would like to snap a pic of. And y...

Re: Gear Stolen, South Everett
This is why whenever anyone calls my shop to ask if I buy used gear I ask them to stop by with it ( even though I rairly buy used stuff ) to check it out against the stolen equipment lists I keep on hand. And God help the guy that stops in and trys to sell me my old portable compressor.

Re: Gear Stolen, South Everett
I just got off the phone with my insurance provider. Fortunately I've never filled a claim before and they seem to be treating me very respectfully. They will probably (after I prove I owned all of this stuff) cut me a check for the used/depreciated value of each item. Then they *should* cut me a c...

Well back from yet another week in Port Townsend. Lots of nudies as well as the other critters and an unpleasant surprise. During or Wed. dive I found a bag of remains like the one at cove 2 awhile back! Mid way through our dive I investigated a large plastic bag that was tied at the top with wire ...

Thats sad, usually we start seeing a lot more dead seals as boating season ramps up. I have seen them sliced nose to tail by boat props.

Yeah, the construction company that was doing the work sent me a very nice email explaining that they would have dearly loved to be able to offload their extra rocks in 60feet or so and help make an artificial reef for us and the fishies. But he said the EPA was already watching them like a hawk to ...
