Re: New diver back home for the summer [emoji3]
Hi Ariel! Welcome to NWDC. If you’ve been diving in Monterey then I don’t think you’ll find the PNW too difficult of a transition. Mainly our water is cooler so drysuits are that much more appreciated. What kind of photography do you like to shoot and what type of camera or video setup are you using...

New Diver in PNW
Howdy Avery and welcome to NWDC!
You’ll find many dive site listings with detailed information in the sub-forum.
As far as tips, I recommend dry gloves eventually. It makes all the difference to have your hands comfy, in my opinion!

Re: Chicago area diver, planning to check out PNW later this year
Howdy LightBrownPillow and welcome to NWDC! I’m unsure what dive related events there are this fall, but as far as what you’ll need consider to adjust to our waters- there are a number of dive sites that are not current intensive and thus you won’t have to worry about tides and currents other than p...

Wow that is a really nice looking and sounding suit. And they’re 1/3 the price of other manufacturers?

Re: New to Seattle-Looking for Advice/Dives/Dive Buddies
Welcome to the best diving in the world. For drysuits check out Seaskin. They're about 1/3 the price of a DUI, Bare, or Santi and are fully custom at that price. I dove farmer-john and semi-dry for years here but loathed the surface internal regardless of season. Hour plus dives also suck when wet ...

Re: New to Seattle-Looking for Advice/Dives/Dive Buddies
Yes sure thing you can dive in a wetsuit and many of us start that way. You’ll probably want a 7mm farmer John type suit unless you are truly not bothered by the cold. And the water temps don’t change THAT much from summer to winter, at depth. Usually in the 49 - 53 degree range I think. You can ren...

Welcome to NWDC! Nice photos. That one of the iguana with one claw out is awesome, and looks like he’s at a bar waiting for his next drink
Plenty of dive sites in the area and people doing regular dives. Are you already set up to dive dry or with a wetsuit?

Re: Science diver* transplant looking to find community and keep up my diving experience
Bonus: I stumbled on this the other day-- the most screaming deal for soft weights I've ever found! Less than $1/pound. Holy smokes, am I reading this right? Soft weights are usually $5 a pound or more. (Might be a mistake, grab it fast.) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Soft-Weight-Bag-Pouch-Lead-for-BC...

Re: Science diver* transplant looking to find community and keep up my diving experience
Welcome to NWDC! Glad you found your passion even if there was a wrong turn toward academia along the way. Better to realize it before going even further in that direction! You’ll find many divers here but what’s probably the best is to jump in on a weekly dive in the South Sound sometime. ScubaJess...

This is a smart approach of being on the right side of caution, imho.Scuba-T wrote:Thanks for the invite to the night dive, but I thought about it and I think that's a bit beyond my comfort zone at this point. However, if you do get a dive on a weekend together I'd definitely be interested.

Re: Beginner Diver - looking for partners to explore dive sites around the PNW with
Hello Sousheel, and welcome to the board! Sounds like you’ve had some great dive travels already, that’s great. As far as PNW diving, a lot of it is done from shore. There are weekly dives happening both south and north of Seattle. You’ll find more info in the Dive Planning section of the site. This...
