Hiya local divers and visitors to Cove 2, if you are visiting the Octopus on eggs, and move the rocks on the far side of den to get a closer look, please return them. Too big an opening and momma octo gets more stressed due to predators poking head in. Stress will shorten her life and reduce chance ...
of course we could just take a hint from our our neighbors to the north... I suspect more of us go up there to dive their artificial reefs than come down here to dive ours
of course if they had the colors "Sandy Shores" or "Rocky Beaches" ....... (apologies for a bad joke might date me.... those two characters used to show up quite regularly in dive logs, not sure how much they are diving anymore)
Tonight I was testing a stereoscopic (3D) underwater 360 camera system. Here is flat video of it in use. https://youtu.be/b-iJRti_ZR0 And the video itself. It has a ways to go, but when the light is good, it really captures the feel of the little fish swimming along... https://youtu.be/OOalonru1zg I...
I can't even begin to say how honored and proud I am to have been a small part of this amazing project. HUGE congrats to Andrea Stockert and Dan Stetson for continuing to making this dream a reality!!!! I know that kids around Washington State were absolutely enthralled and delighted by this opportu...
I'm curious where their #3 number comes from (edit: upon closer read, i found it, interesting that they are using just PADI per captia numbers vs. DEMA) Historically 20-30+ year ago we used to vie for the top spot for certified divers with California and Florida. We've fallen off more recently, and ...
Please keep documenting this stuff... I've seen pretty significant biodiversity changes down in the mid-sound post Sea Star Wasting syndrome, it would be interesting to keep taking notes, present thoughts to the marine ecologists (like Dr. Harvell) and see what they think. When i chatted about the '...
https://youtu.be/-eFcNbQZmeo I’m the Underwater DP for this really cool film project coming up. But as always with UW stuff, a lot of testing needs to happen before any adventure :) I decided to do double duty and do a sea star wasting syndrome survey at the same time as testing out kit. Results of ...
they used to follow us up the lines at C2, once time an adolescent that swam with us for 15-20 min followed us all the way up to 20' deco stop. that was just a little on the disconcerting side.
Dive more... with continued exposure, you'll not only get used to that delicate choking feeling but pretty soon you might even start to long for it

How to tell a Northwest diver? Gear costs are in multiples of the value of the car driven to the dive site. (Scooters, rebreathers, cameras, fancy Drysuits, numerous tanks...)
Similar at C2 on Friday (high tide) top 40' or so were craptastic, top 20 was likely student-o-cline with 5', 5-10 from 20-40 feet, with the planktocline at ~50 opening up to 15-20
HAHAHAH awesomeness! Your timing is impeccable as I've finally got the cameras sussed out and now its on to lighting. You don't have to suffer through the early painful bad stitches etc. (now just bad lighting)
