Re: It's sincerely a calling: total N00b looking to engage
Welcome, Jenessa. I think you will find that the diving community here in Seattle is very welcoming and once you learn to dive in the cold waters of Puget Sound, diving almost anywhere else in the world is relatively easy. While the diving here is a bit more challenging than in warm, tropical waters...

Winds look a little iffy this evening -- 15-20mph out of the South-Southwest. I may opt for a different site.

Re: Cozumel car crash
Just a quick note: Laurie and I were able to dive at Cove 2 this afternoon -- first dive back after the accident. The dive went well except for my suit leaking making me feel like a popsicle. I look forward to seeing you all at local dive sites. Thanks again for all the support.

Re: Apple Watch Ultra as a Dive Computer
I haven't been able to dive with my Apple Watch Ultra yet (other than a short snorkel in Hawaii) since I'm still recovering from my auto accident in April, but I had a couple of people carry it with them while diving to collect some data. I found out some interesting facts: 1) The Apple Watch appear...

Re: Apple Watch Ultra as a Dive Computer
I have an Apple Watch Ultra but have not had a chance to dive with it yet. Hopefully I will be back in the water in a few weeks where I will use the Depth app (effectively a bottom timer) as a backup for me Perdix. At some point I will try the Oceanic+ app when it is available, but doubt I'll ever u...

Re: Travel Insurance
We purchased the separate trip insurance from DAN that included things like lost luggage, trip interruption, cancelled flights, etc. We also have the DAN family membership, but I'm not sure which of our expenses would have been covered under that without the additional trip insurance. One thing to r...

Re: Travel Insurance
My results are non-typical, but I bought DAN trip insurance for the first time for our trip to Cozumel in April. As many here know, my wife and I were in a severe auto accident while on that trip and the insurance was well worth it. For example, when I had to have an air ambulance from the ICU in Co...

Re: Cozumel car crash
Hey Everybody. I wanted to give a short update since my wife and I were the subject of this post. The accident was seven weeks ago and I am now at Harborview Medical Center still recovering. I don’t have any recollection of the accident - in fact I only remember the last two weeks. I am making slow,...

Re: New to Cold Water, looking for dive buddies!
Hi Mark, welcome to the area. There are several groups that dive weeknights on a regular basis, but not too many recurring weekend dives as far as I know. The Marker Buoy club is a good place to start since they generally get dives organized and announced well in advance. If you decide you can do w...

Re: Tank input
I believe HP 117's are the exact size/weight as LP95's, so why not just go with the hp tank? -Eric Exactly. The HP117 and LP95 are both 15 liter water capacity tanks, so for a given pressure, they will effectively have the same amount of gas. Why go with an LP95 overfilled to 3000psi, when you can ...

Re: Tank input
Steel tanks are definitely the way to go. The size really depends on a couple of factors: 1) your gas consumption rate, and 2) your physical size. HP100s are great in terms of size and weight for most people -- they're small enough and light enough that they are not too cumbersome and if your gas co...

I read the entire thread and the level of disregard for safety and duty of care exhibited by that instructor is shocking. While the deceased should never have been there in the first place, it sounds like he, as a DM trainee, showed more heroism and professionalism than the instructor. I'm frankly d...

Laurie and I had a couple of great dives on with Sea Dragon Charters and Liz Tribe Diving yesterday in Howe Sound.
