We went to Octopus Hole yesterday on a rather chilly last day of November. Air temps were about 28 degrees. We took a gamble on viz as we were hopeful that the clear cold weather had improved conditions since the monsoons earlier in the month. On arrival we found milky white surface water, but hoping for the best we commenced the dive with our fingers crossed. On our descent we passed through a layer of brown fresh water that was about 47 degrees, but once we reached 15 feet we hit 53 degree water with over 25 feet of viz. This was the first time in a long time that I was warmer underwater than on the surface
We found lots of wolf eels, although none were particularly large. Plus a couple of GPOs, one protecting her eggs.
If you're interested in seeing what it looked like you can see a gopro video of sections of the dive at this link
