Please keep the Critterwatcher Forum a No Hijack Zone!
While hijacking threads and going way off topic is the NW Dive club way - and can be amusing - in this forum, please keep your comments on topic.
There are plenty of other places on NW Dive Club to hijack threads.
Thanks,
- Janna

I'd like to see a lot less hijacking ... seems to be the rule more than the exception, and it always seems to involve the same four or five people.

Re: Please keep the Critterwatcher Forum a No Hijack Zone!
As most of you know, I'm a thread-jacking scoundrel at heart. But I try to respect the wishes of those who don't find it amusing. I'm going to chime in here and request that the hijacks, digressions, insults, winning lottery number projections, unsolicited advice, and non sequitur stream of consciousness babble be kept out of the critter watchers area- I don't think that's too much to ask. I'll go start a thread somewhere else you guys can hijack.

Re: Please keep the Critterwatcher Forum a No Hijack Zone!
I have reasons for my request :
- This forum's a bit different than some of the other areas of NWDC, and you get some folks who post here but not hardly anywhere else, due to the unique focus of this subforum.
- Many of the folks who post in the critterwatchers section are genuinely trying to either share or gather information.
- I often refer scientists or ID experts to this forum to help with ID or info on a particular critter, and I don't want them to have to wade through the 'spam' to get the thread content.
- We are very privileged to have some of our own experts (Greg Jensen and Leslie ?) who come help us out - and I really don't want them to waste their precious time wading through non-pertinent posts to find the 'good stuff'.
As moderator of our little area here, I figured it was my call, so that's why I posted the request and made it sticky.
Josh, if that's not OK, I will certainly defer to your judgment!

I concur completely. This is your corner of the site; and I am aware of the unique nature of it, for all the reasons you brought up. Feel free to delete posts in here that meander off the path too far.nwscubamom wrote:I have reasons for my request :

I'd agree with being the moderator of the forum and someone Jacks the post... Just delete there post.. OR give them a PM and tell them to knock it off, because its way off topic, and its not called for. People need to keep on topic or post a NHZ..

it means keep the topic on subject, and don't cause tangents or post other silly jokes and whatnot.

In other areas but this one people will sometimes put an NHZ on their subject to request that the thread stays on topic.spatman wrote:it means keep the topic on subject, and don't cause tangents or post other silly jokes and whatnot.
