The Seattle Times reported an article on NOAA updating the list of fish known in the Salish Sea. It bumps the number to 253 species. In the 70's I was able to work as a science diver at a marine biology lab. The ichthyology prof wanted to see how many species we could collect over the summer. We were pleased to find somewhere about 85. How woeful that number seems now.

Don't feel bad - many of those were found NOT doing nearshore diving. There's no way we could see that many species because we are limited to diving depths.
