Re: Maui Easy Shore Diving Recommendations 2/22-3/4

Thanks Brian. We are staying by Maalaea Bay, and luckily I already found the book a month ago online and have it in hand. I know what sites I'll be reading up on during the flight after work on Friday. I'll keep the tourist whale watching tip in mind.

Re: Maui Easy Shore Diving Recommendations 2/22-3/4

Thanks everyone for the ideas and advice, I appreciate learning from your experience and not having to learn everything on my own for my first trip to this state. I'll be checking out Mala, Makena, Honolua Bay, along with the others on alohashoredivers.com during the morning hours. Glad to learn abo...

Maui Easy Shore Diving Recommendations 2/22-3/4

Heading to Maui on Friday, looking for easy shore diving recommendations during the windy season. Also interested if I can hit any later in the day or if they are all first thing in the morning due to the winds. Where is a good place to rent a tank and weights as well?

Thanks!

Re: From The Outside Looking In

Spending $200 for a cheeseburger (the food was $10 and gas was the rest), enjoying a terrifying experience in bad weather, rough seas, and being seasick, feeling stressed out and very anxious as you are approaching your slip with a strong wind ready to crash you into your neighbors 1/2 million dolla...

Re: Cell Phone Help please!

If you stay in King County, any of the carriers should work fine. If you travel outside of major cities in the US, Verizon is the best hands down. I learned this first hand driving from Wisconsin to Seattle a couple of times. I kept asking lizard0924 if I could use her Verizon phone since my AT&...

Re: how i met my first (dive buddy)

When I was 18 a friend of mine told me many of his diving stories which prompted me to get certified . I thought all of his diving equipment was cool, his BC, compass, regulator, tanks, wetsuit, console, but I wondered why he was mesmerized by his speargun and dive knife. I dove with him for my firs...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

In case you didn't get any bottom time yesterday at the NWDC club dive.... John Rawlings conducted a viz report experiment when he surveyed everyone coming out of the water at Redondo during the NWDC Club Dive. Mine was the most conservative @ 25'-30' maybe that is due to my last dive a week ago hav...

Re: Blackbeards 2011

This is an excellent time to leave cold and snow-covered Wisconsin to get some bottom time, based on my experience of flying out of Mitchell Field when it's -10F outside and leaving my parka behind in my frozen car. I'll just be returning from Bonaire to dark and rainy Seattle during this time. Let'...

Re: Bonaire in May, 2011

The most concise way to describe diving in Bonaire to someone from the NW is: Amazing current free shore diving almost anywhere along a 20 mile coast and free nitrox upgrades. Or..... Dive, dive, dive, dive, dive, sleep, repeat. Well - most of the sites are current free and if you like a challenge there ...

One year ago I was at the Newport event, test diving the CF 200x. Now I have one and love it . The worst part will be the wait.

I was wondering what color(s) you picked out with the fashion consultant.

They also had the ratfish picture from the underside where they do look ratlike, completely different looking fish from any other angle.

+1 on Microsoft Security Essentials

It is free for consumers and is based on the same technologies as the business paid version of the software.

Rapid Ascent Cited in Scuba Death Near Black River Falls, WI

I have seen a lot of discussions and unanswered questions about local SCUBA diving accidents on the board. My mom told me about the following accident she read in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this week and I found a link to the divers blog in a seperate news story (see url below). This accident hi...

Salt Creek County Park Tounge Point 30' viz on Friday

From reading the other viz reports, I was lucky to find the right weekend to dive outside of the Seattle area.

Re: Can anybody give me some computer help?

Knowing that you aren't having any problems accessing the same email server, it would lead me to believe the problem in on her PC and not at the provider. With that information, I'd just upgrade to the free Windows Live Mail with the same configuration information from the working PC. I am assuming ...

Re: Angry Wolf Eel at Day Island Wall

It was a reversal of fish behavior last night, the cabezon were plentiful but there were no unprevocated attacks from those angry fish - or are the angry cabezons only at Edmonds? As a rule, I don't mess around with or tease any wild life above or under the water - which is a good rule to follow as ...

Re: Can anybody give me some computer help?

I'd start with Verizon tech support, it seems like they made a change to their email server or network security based on your problem description and error number. If you don't have patience for their tech support, I would double check your email settings. I found this online, but it may not be the ...

Angry Wolf Eel at Day Island Wall

I was shooting video of the large wolf eel at Day Island Wall yesterday when my buddy was opening and closing his hand, teasing the wolf eel that he had some food for him. Next thing I knew I was watching the eel come out of his hole completely, buzz right by me, and took a couple of snaps at my bud...
