Re: Hi!

Mace Windu's discipline of Vaapad is my favorite for the same reason I like UTD- it takes you into the penumbra of the darkside.

Re: Narked?

I hope I'm not opening a can of worms with this comment. I've seen at least two people in this thread comment that Enriched Levels of O2 have helped them curb the effects of Nitrogen Narcosis, and I wanted to throw out that I do not. To be honest I believe I am more susceptible to Narcosis when I d...

Re: Narked?

When I've been narked and aware of it, I would not describe my sensation in terms of numbers of beers. My best description of how I feel is like the "dazed and stunned" feeling I got as a kid after I fell off the monkey bars and hit the ground too hard. I associate the paranoid or "da...

Re: SAC rate?

OK, I don't obsess about it I was just wondering mostly because it is what it is. I skimmed over the suggested reading and plan to sit down and read it carefully later, thanks for the link. I'm very comfortable in the water, I like to mosey, but need work on my trim so I struggle with the last 1500...

Re: SAC rate?

Don't obsess about the number -- just use it to make sure you have the gas you need for the dive you intend to do. +1 on that point. just like MPG in your car, less is always better, but unlike gasoline consumption, using more doesn't cost you more. Use what you need for getting the CO2 out of your...

Re: AOW Certification

YMMV- Your mileage may vary- in other words, you can get an AOW class that is good or not. Collecting certs is not the same as being the best diver you can be. Last week I had a neck seal failure, so this week I was looking forward to a nice, warm dry dive in my fixed suit with brand new socks that came Friday from DRIS. Of course it was when I put my feet in the suit that I realized that I had neglected to dry out the water that leaked in last week. As th...
