Re: UTD Teaching Methodology
the villagers with their pitchforks and torches appear to have arrived. I've never met articdiver....don't know anything about him, actually, other than that he is a long-time member here, but he doesn't deserve to be dog-piled for stating his opinion. If you want discussion, that isn't the way to ...

Re: UTD Teaching Methodology
What I'm doing, perhaps poorly, is trying to point out that there has been lots and lots of educational methods research that has given us a structure for the most successful training. What is the structure to which you refer, and how do you quantify it as the most successful? The method that just ...

Re: What's in your pockets?
What's the DIR approved pocket for my Glock? I saw a guy this weekend that had custom quick draw holsters for his matching pistol grip UK C4's on teathers. I'm sure he could set you up with dual purpose holster that would work great. Only make sure you know which one is the light and which one is t...

Open Water, Day 2, Cove 2
My first day in the open water was characterized in my mind by a picture of me looking something like the character “Pigpen” in the Peanuts comic strip. Remember the kid who had the perpetual cloud following him around? That was me in the silt. Well, not the whole time, but certainly at that moment ...

Open Water Day 1, Cove 2
Saturday was the big day. The long awaited first open water dive finally came. I met up with BDub around 8:30 and after a coffee and a few minutes of chit chat with the Dive Club folks, we spent a little less than an hour briefing the dives and the goals for the day. General orientation dives, no dr...

Re: Random post
After today's Rescue class, Pez amd I joined Paulicarp for on of his OW dives with BDub and RJack. For his 2nd OW dive, Paulicarp looked like a stud. You could see that he knew what he "should" be looking like, and that he was doing what he could to be that. He didn't kick up NEARLY as mu...

Re: UTD Teaching Methodology
As it plays to this thread I think the treaching sequence laid out in the original post makes a lot of sense. But, keeping specific skills and outcomes secret seems to go against proven teaching theory. Good teaching is good teaching, regardless. It isn't specific skills or outcomes that are being ...

What am I missing? Or, is this just another marketing hype thingy? I think you're totally missing the point. This will be the wave of the future. This should save the world from the onset of catastrophic global warming and climate change. Due to the abundance of nitrogen in the air, we can all expe...

If some of those people had certs they got them in a box of crackerjacks! That's so true. The standards for a Cracker Jack C-card are a total joke! I'm glad I got mine from the Everett Herald instead... BTW- Isn't it ironic that it says "Avid Diver" next to my avitar? #-o that was my 100t...
