Re: Cheap doubles!!
I think this is a subtle (or not) way of letting someone know to come get their tanks. I got 20+ tank units of my own and can't get my boat out without moving them - ugh. So, yeah don't expect to store your junk at my place. I've got lots of storeage space and I love to buy beer for A-list divers w...

is it better to do a rescue course right after OW, or AOW, or exactly where do think it fits best in the development of a new diver?

since I can't sleep and I can't dive, I might as well take a stab at this one. Independent variables answer the question "What do I change?" Dependent variables answer the question "What do I observe?" (according to the infalible wisdom of wikipedia) sooo...I would think t...

what's the diff between the xtx50 and the tx50? It looks like the tx50 is the older version of the xtx50. Is that correct?

Re: Techreational
I have yet to buy my first piece of dive gear, and I've done nothing beyond textbook work so far. I've wanted to dive for many years but have not made the commitment to do it until January of this year. Since then, I've read a basic textbook and an advanced textbook both older but comprehensive, and...

Re: Apeks regs
What are you looking for? The DST is a turret while Tek3 has no turrent and is specific for doubles. The DST is less than ideal for doubles (DST4 being much better at keeping your hoses in place) while the Tek3 is less than ideal for deco bottles - the right post reg doesn't even have a HP port on ...

Apeks regs
Who here uses Apeks regs? Which model? Why do you like it? Is there anything you don't like about it?
Is it true that they are more easily serviced/repaired than some of the other brands?
thanks!

So, you guys use a 7' on your primary, which is the reg you give your OOA buddy if he hasn't already ripped it out of your mouth. How long is your secondary?

Comfort Swivel
Who here has a primary second stage with a "comfort swivel" hose, and do you like it? Why? Have you ever had air leaks from the swivel or had it break or corrode? Is it extra work to clean? On the other side of the coin, who here has tried one of these swivels and doesn't like it? (Sounder...

Yes, this is weird. (a bit awkward maybe?) I'm going to be at the party tonight. I'm going to a memorial for a guy I never met in person, and I'll be there with a bunch of people I've never met. ?? I've been wanting to dive for a long time and just when I finally got serious about it, I heard that L...

Re: Book Review and Corrections! Shore Diving near Seattle
Kent is a friend of mine, and he has a great deal of passion for diving. He's a very talented physician and has put together some good publications in that field. As a publisher myself, I now how hard it is to get every "i" dotted and "t" crossed just right, and in the end, you a...

I think we'll learn and remember more from his attitude than anything else. I'd like to have a little more Jake in me after reading his posts. His reports were so graphic and funny that you could identify with the stage he was going through since we've all been through and experienced the same thin...

Re: Input Please - This Feels Weird
I think there's a sense in which it should feel wierd. It's a rare person that has such passion for life and the ability to touch and inspire people the way he did. Loosing someone in your life always makes you face your own motality in a subjective way. What I mean is that divers do something that ...

Welcome Ryan! I'm new here too. The other day I found out that there was an issue with diving being banned at Mukilteo, and when searching around I found this board and was impressed with how they dealt with city hall in a way that could do nothing but gain the respect of all involved. It took no ti...

I'm so sorry. His dive reports were fantastic encouragement to me as an aspiring diver. I only met him online, and it was just today, but I feel like I've lost a dear friend nonetheless.

Yeah, it's no secret... I DO love Deep Sea Supply (DSS) gear!! Many folks here do and sometimes it looks like DSS sponsored the dive when we've got 8-10 DSS rigs all lined up in a row. OK Sounder, I'll bite- What is it you like about DSS in general? (and please don't say 'the commission on the sale...
