Peter- like so many, I am grieving with you. A person did not have to know Lynne well to know well how special a person she was. Very sorry for your loss.

Re: Just want some opinions

Most of the real cost for a shop to fill a tank is not readily apparent (liability, testing, maintenance, administrative and overhead, depreciation etc) Shops sell fills at or below cost as a loss leader to keep people diving and buying classes and gear etc. Because of this, divers in general have a...

Yes, I should just give up and go north . . . it's easier. I'll need a whole new set of dive buddies, though, and I'll have to develop an insane fascination with ling cod. :) You're always welcome to come dive Mukilteo with us. We have more crab than lings though.... come dive Muk with us! we've go...

I went through the "great DiveXtras garage sale of 2014" and picked up a few things I needed. The old proto type sierras were priced right for what they are, and Ben was righteous about the rest of the gems as well.

Re: How common is deep air?

I think you're going to have a hard time finding people who will come forward and publicly state on NWDC that they dive deep on air due to the obvious bias against it. I'm sure you're right, but my question isn't *who* dives deep air. I was a member here before I even started diving, so I guess you...

Re: How common is deep air?

My dive buddies and I stopped diving air past about 60' the day we got helium certs. So you're more in line with my perception that deep air is history. But my question is really if those of us who never dive deep air are more the exception or the rule? Does anyone still teach deep air, and are new...

How common is deep air? NHZ

I'm not looking to start a debate on the merits/risks of deep air. Deep air used to be a standard rite of passage for adventurous divers, but I'm just wondering how common the practice of using air for dives in the 130 - 170 range is in the local tech community today. I have the impression that as h...

Re: Shops in the area that fill using a water bath

I believe one of the reasons water baths were used originally was in case a tank failed during filling. The water bath would absorb some of the energy of the explosion. -Chris While it sounds plausible, this definitely does not work. The water bath container ends up adding to the shrapnel flying ar...

I would seriously love to join one of your picnic point dives...I've never done it PP is an ok dive, but hardly worth schlepping gear over the bridge. Jeremy loves schlepping gear for dives that are barely worth it. 10 min in Deception Pass would be worth more than 90min at PP...just my opinion. Yo...
