Re: In Memoriam: Lynne Flaherty (LCF, TSandM)

Although I have been away from the PNW dive scene for many years and I never met Lynn in person, I do know many of you who were Lynn's friends and your pain is palpable on this thread. I was shocked to read this news yesterday. My condolences to her husband and to all of you who are grieving over th...

Re: Dive Rite HID Light - battery issue

Liz, what light is it? Is it just a 4.5ah 12volt ni-mh battery? If so, they're about $50 from batteryspace.com. The charger can be had from them for about $25 if it's that. It might just be the connecotr is broken too, is this one fo the ones with the stupid trailer plug connectors? Yes, the connec...

Re: Nitrox training

Thanks Liz, I guess I'm getting confused between the online price and what a dive shop actually charges. My initial thought was to take the class there but looking at their website gave me sticker shock. Our shop charges $25 for the nitrox course if you already did the elearning through PADI.It is ...

Dive Rite HID Light - battery issue

Help! My Dive Rite light is not working and it seems to be a battery issue. I plug in the battery to the charger, the red light goes on, the charger gets warm but the battery doesn't seem to take a charge at all. Not even after 24+ hours on the charger. The next day, red light is still on and batter...

Re: Nitrox training

If the only reason you want the c-card is to have access to nitrox when you can't blend your own, why not just take the 1/2 day (or less) nitrox course when you get to Mexico? Typically, the dive center fee is far less than the $205 for PADI's e-learning option you quoted. At our shop, the whole nit...

BP&W is sold. And to the jerk who thought it appropriate to send the following email to Paul when he emailed you (immediately after the BP&W was sold) that the item was no longer available, all I can say to you is get a life. If you wanted the damn item so badly, then you should have moved f...

The BP&W is still available.

Shawn...I sent you a PM.

While I'd love to do the whole "first person who expressed interest has first dibs" thing, I really need to move this item, so whoever finalizes the deal first can have the rig.

Lynn...I will send you a PM, too.

Thanks, everyone!

DUI drysuit with rock boots, DSS backplate & wing

The pressure is on for me to get rid of my cold water dive gear. I have the following stuff that needs to go, because I'm losing my free storage! Price is negotiable. Make me an offer if there is something you like, but you don't like the price. DUI FLX 50/50 drysuit (women's size L) and rock boots ...

Anyone up for diving with a warm water wussie?

Hey peeps...I'm back in the Seattle area for a few days next week. Thinking about dusting off my drysuit, weight harness and Weezle for a quick dive in Puget Sound. And it probably WILL be very quick, since I am already getting cold in 81 degree Caribbean waters. I'm not sure how my body will respon...

Well, if dad is paying....Suunto D6i with the optional wireless transmitter. Love mine, and I wear it as a watch when I'm not diving. That makes me feel better about shelling out all that $$$.

Re: If you had to choose... Bonaire... or Belize?

I suppose I'm slightly biased, but seriously...Bonaire is the shore diving capital of the universe. For good reason. There is nothing like deciding to hit a dive anytime you want, rather than to be beholden to a boat schedule. You get a truck, you get some tanks and - bam - you're in the water whene...

Non-Strobe lighting for low-light conditions

We are experimenting with underwater photography during ultraviolet night diving. For anyone not familiar with this, it involves no camera flash and illumination only by handheld flashlights fitted with special yellow lenses. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a diffuser that might fit ...

Re: NWDC Stickers - the Next Run

Mailing them around to everyone will be a total PITA. So, let's reserve that for really remote members like Diver Dave. Do I qualify as remote enough to warrant mailing? LOL. Not necessary, just send some down with Kelly, Derrick, Shell and Jim in February. I will make sure that NWDC love is spread...

Anyone coming to Bonaire before Christmas?

I have an underwater camera housing sitting in Seattle that would be immensely helpful to me down here (since Bonaire is where the camera is). Anyway, if you're heading down here anytime soon and might have a bit of space in your bag, let me know. There are cold Polars waiting for the sherpa who vol...

FS: DUI FLX 50/50 Women's Drysuit - Size L - $800 OBO

Since it's not looking like I will be enticed back to the "refreshing" waters of Puget Sound (or the PNW in general) anytime soon, I have decided to part with my cold water dive gear. Item number one on the block is my drysuit. It is a gently used DUI FLX 50/50 in a stock size L (womens). ...

Re: Drysuit Warm Water Diving

Given that you will be living in the tropics (and presumably diving regularly), I think you will find that your tolerance for the water temps will decrease as your dive numbers increase. Yes, 84 degree water is super-warm to a vacationer, even in a shortie (I've never been THAT tolerant...LOL), but ...

how hard is it to pack scuba gear for a flight Not very. Just use a rugged piece of luggage. Mari Jachetta in Kirkland is also great. She was my instructor for my Rescue Diver course, and I really enjoyed my time spent with her. (And I am super-picky about the instructors I work with.) At that time, she was working thru UWS.

Re: BP/W Q's...

All I can say about the fancy harness is that everyone I know who has spent the money for one, has gone to a standard harness eventually. You might save yourself some money by starting with the simple harness, having someone show you how to adjust it and get in and out of it, and then deciding if y...
