Re: Best dive tattoo shop in Seattle or Portland

Thanks Gdog! I'm really happy with it. I thought she did a great job on the octo itself and incorporating the anchor into the drawing as well. All that shading is free hand as well. It wasn't on the original drawing/transfer so it was a pleasant surprise when I saw how well it turned out. I'm thinki...

Re: Best dive tattoo shop in Seattle or Portland

Teresa Lane at Sabbath Tattoo in Bellingham, WA. She drew mine totally custom from photos I've taken and a few pics I found on the web that I liked. She does amazingly realistic art work and very easy to work with. Check get out on Instagram.
Took two sessions to complete.

Re: Return To TAHSIS

Probably a large portion of NWDC is wanting to get up there now... How shallow do those strawberry fields go? Thanks YellowEye! The trip was a blast! As you can tell, we ate well and listened to some very inspiring music. The Strawberry's start around 20ft in some spots and go all the way down to 1...

Re: Return To TAHSIS

It was truly an amazing trip up to Tahsis this year! The weather, the crew, the food the diving and the oh so sweet visibility knocked this one out of the park! Chris is right, easily 80ft of vis and barely a spec of schmutz in the water! The ferry ride and the long drive from Nanaimo to Campbell Ri...

While they're still a treat to see, I seem to have been running into a lot of them lately up here! We dove Skipjack Island a while back and saw three of them on a single dive!

Re: Gull Rock and Sucia Island

Very cool. I went to Sucia this weekend too. I didn't see a basket star, pskc, or a cloud sponge there though. Cool finds! Were they from Gull? Love the San Juans! The Basket Star and the PSKC were both at Sucia. The North and Northwest sides of the island tend to be the better dive sites for critt...

Gull Rock and Sucia Island

It's been ages since I posted a trip report. I guess I'm feeling nostalgic... Some buddies and I headed out Friday morning after night shift for some shrimping on the really good high slack. Since the tides were so good we figured we'd dive too! We dropped the pots and headed over to Gull Rock. We h...

We caught the 5:15am ferry from Tsawwassen to Nanaimo and then rolled into Tahsis around 12:45pm. For as remote as it is, it's not to bad of a trip.

I love the beauty, ruggedness and isolation of Nootka Sound. I look forward to every trip I take there whether diving or fishing. One place I'd rather be than anywhere else! Re: Tahsis, BC April 1st thru 4th (Long Winded)

Our second and third dives at Mozino Point would be a bit shallower. But there were still a remarkable number of good sized corals between 120ft and 130ft. We chose to dive the site the next day at the same slack. It decided to start raining on us through the night and into the morning. No big deal!...

Tahsis, BC April 1st thru 4th (Long Winded)

It's been a long time since I've shared a dive report here. But this one was just to epic not to share. I've been fishing in Nootka Sound for many years but never really had time to dive. There's salmon to be caught you know! But last spring I joined a good friend of mine at a family cabin of his in...

Re: Planning a trip to Vancouver, BC

Without a ferry ride, you're looking at Whytecliff Park and Porteau Cove Provincial Park. Both located on the Sea to Sky Highway just north of Vancouver. Both dive sites are excellent. Whytecliff Park is my favorite of the two. It offers both deep and shallow dives, is closer and has tons of cloud s...

Re: Dogfish question

I think they tend to be a warm weather critter. We catch tons of them during the summer all over the San Juans while salmon fishing, especially if using bait vs. lures. Then in the winter time, not a single one... I catch half a dozen a season in my crab pots. The only ones I've ever seen were at Pa...

Re: Waterproof vs Weezle Undergarment

Which Weezle do you have? I have the Fourth Element Arctic which has served me well for the past few years but I'm starting to do 90+ minute dives and even with a mid layer I freeze my ass off. I've been debating between the Extreme and the Extreme Plus - Most folks I talk to say the plus is overki...

Re: Waterproof vs Weezle Undergarment

I've used the Fourth Element for years but recently bought a Weezle. I wish I would have started with the Weezle. The dives I've had since using it have been the warmest dives ever! Never tried Waterproof, it's probably not bad, but I bet it doesn't compare to the Weezle. I know the Fourth Element d...

Re: Weezle or DUI undergarment

Has anyone attached ballistic nylon to the back of Weezle where the dry suit zipper runs? I am looking for a way to keep the thermals from getting in the zipper. This goes for any of my thermals. Wondering if anyone has just glued them on and if so - what glue was used. I haven't found that to be n...

Re: Weezle or DUI undergarment

That is great info Mathue. Did you have to add much weight? Does it seem like you need to add a lot of air in your suit at depth to stay warm? I added two pounds, but probably didn't need it. It doesn't feel like I'm adding any more air than normal. The difference in thermal comfort is remarkable t...

Re: Weezle or DUI undergarment

I just recently recieved my weezle Extreme that I purchased from John. I've logged 4 dives on it and I love it! Warmest dives ever!!! I also dive the Bare XCD2 drysuit. I was using 4th Element undergarments and they were good, but don't hold a candle to the Weezle. My first dive with the Weezle, I l...
