Re: Masterline Oxygen Booster for Sale
No worries Jeff, thanks for letting me know. To answer you question about Scooter Stowage on the boat. We made racks out of 2x6's for the hard tops that were similar to this: http://www.scubaracks.co.uk/images/plywoodracks/scubaracks14.jpg On the swim step, we would stand them vertically and strap t...

Re: Masterline Oxygen Booster for Sale
Sounds like a great boat. We used to store the scooters on the hard top of the Almars and North Rivers. I've also put them on the swim step, which makes it easy to drop them in the water on a lanyard on arrival at the dive site (clears up deck space). That also works when clipping them off to a buoy...

Re: Masterline Oxygen Booster for Sale
Good Morning Jeff, Officially, it requires a minimum inlet pressure of 300 psi. In real life you can scavenge Helium or Argon down a little lower than that if you're not boosting the pressure all the way to 3500 PSI. In other words, if the cylinder you are filling is at 1000 psi or less, you can go ...

Re: Anyone know whats up with Diving Concepts?
But then I started thinking... if the o-ring in the system is not a standard size, you'd be in a pickle if you needed a replacement. I wonder if it is a standard? Hi Matt, The Diving Concepts Dry Glove O-rings are standard sizes and are readily available. I get them in packs of 25, so have lots of ...

Re: What a ride! or why we don't dive Northern Oregon
This video shows commercial fishing boats re-entering over the bar at the mouth of the Columbia River between Western Washington and Oregon . It is well known as one of the world's most dangerous and violent river re-entry points. Imagine old sailing ships doing this, quite a ride indeed! Actually,...

FS: Dive Boat, 26' North River Seahawk Offshore
The Dive Bum is for sale. Sad, but true, we're in the process of buying a larger boat, so have to make room. The 26' North River Seahawk Offshore was purchased new in 2010 and has been a wreck finding and wreck diving machine (250+ wrecks located). She is powered by twin Yamaha 150 HP four stroke ou...

I've never dove them but I recall reading about sponges on a slope just south of Dewatto Bay. I forgot all about the Clould Sponge at DeWatto! Thanks for reminding me! If I remember correctly, we saw a single cloud sponge on a rocky ledge at about 110' (see the crappy photo below). I think we found...

Hi Jackie,
Don't forget Sponge Hill in Hood Canal. I think that site has the highest concentration of Cloud Sponges for the Hood Canal dive sites. Most of the South and East sides of the hill are covered with Cloud Sponges of all shapes and sizes.

Re: Photo Printing Recommendations
The large scale printing that Costco has done for him has been really good. Most Costco photo centers have very good Noritsu Printers. They will produce excellent prints, typically up to 8x12" on site. However, to get the best out of your underwater images from them, the images should be color...

Re: Tank storage.
It looks like Fritz beat me to it. +1 on the above: Most Breathing Air Compressors (SCUBA) put out extremely dry air. The last time I had my air tested, the dew point was -96°, so the air itself is not going to condensate inside the tank unless the proverbial h*ll freezes over. ;-) The vast majority...

Re: Custom Dive Boat Ladder......Help
space your steps 10-12 inches. We space the ladder rungs at 9.5 - 10", which is the spacing that I got from Kal Helyar ( Porpoise Bay Charters ) after he went through about 8 different ladders in dozens of boats. Much more than 10 inches and it's a BIG step up wearing doubles. I personally am ...

Buying pre-cleaned hoses with 3000psi+ ratings is insanely expensive.
MasterLine sells Oxygen Cleaned fill whips and hoses locally, but McMaster is less expensive if you clean it yourself.
Good Luck,

Re: Basking shark sightings?
They were getting tangled in the commercial fishing nets. Sad but true, from 1945 to 1970 the Canadian Government eradicated Basking Sharks.spatman wrote: Why?
Now (as of 2008), they are trying to locate and protect them, but have only had six sightings in 12 years.

Re: Basking shark sightings?
I have seen a sevengill shark (pulled up by a fisherman in Hammersly Inlet) and I do remember seeing a Basking Shark that was hit by a boat ( in South Puget Sound in the late 60's). Of course back then, I thought you had to be absolutely crazy to go Scuba Diving! :rawlings: Now I KNOW.... :angelblue:

Re: Boat rendezvous
We should be able to anchor the boats and dive. I'll also probably have a competent captain topside that can keep an eye on things and we should be able to anchor far enough away from the barge mooring that we'll be safe (assuming the weather behaves).

Re: Any recommendations on a Marine GPS unit?
I'm looking at buying a marine GPS unit. Any suggestions? It would depend a lot on the size and type of boat that you have and what features you would be using. Don's advice on getting the largest screen you can afford is very good. The bigger the screen, the easier it is to zero in on those awesom...
