Re: li-ion batteries for old 4.5Ah canisters?
If you get the 18650's with tabs, ur golden Still a pain, welding is far superior, and a welder isn't that expensive. If you can buy a backup light, you can buy a welder. I have a 150$ model and it's held up well. Also, while we are talking about tabs, I've bought the prewelded tabs, and the rusted...

Re: li-ion batteries for old 4.5Ah canisters?
Batteryspace.com Source your own 18650 cells (the MJ1 is cheap and has great capacity, and high quality right now) and rebuild them with a battery pack welder. One that can weld at least .25 mm pure nickel. You seem more than capable to do this, plus the satisfaction of building your own equipment m...

Re: looking for a NiMH battery charger for Dive-X Sierra
I did end up contacting Batteryspace after this thread posting and was given a quote for the "NiMH 24V 13Ah battery" rebuild for ~$410. I haven't moved on it yet since they said they wouldn't have stock until June to do it. Dashrynn were you able to rebuild your own battery? Yes, I did re...

I will also research the Lithium option. Lithium basically doubles your costs but doesn't upgrade the motor or get you anymore speed, just longer runtime. The rest of us are going further and taking less time to get there lol 23 of these https://www.batterystore.com/shop-by-mfgs-brands/arts-energy/...

Re: looking for a NiMH battery charger for Dive-X Sierra
I've been researching DPV rebuilds and new builds and came across this thread. Since I like you Bob, I have to say that you should be careful whom you order from, and that they are familiar with the battery current (amperage) demand. If they used the black cell from batteryspace, it's not spec'd for...

Re: Scooters. What do you have? Your likes and dislikes?
During research on: scooter batteries; motor controllers; and, motors.....I found this old thread and wanted to chime in on the Genesis DPV. I've dove a Genesis 1200, Magnus, Sierra, Gavin, and Hollis H-160. Hands down, I prefer the Genesis. The weight is cumbersome, but it seems to be standard size...

Weezle Extreme Medium-long Blue
I've only dove this undergarment 3 times. Was pretty warm the entire time (30-45 min time). I'm only getting rid of this because I'm getting out of diving for awhile.

The way I see it; the person had a dream and a goal, and if they want to spend their money on it, who cares? Logically it makes no sense, but it's not my money nor my life.
More power to them for accomplishing a dream.

Re: Getting drysuit experience advice
You don't say what type of drysuit you will use, neoprene or shell. Does make a difference, neoprene is warmer. Negative on the warmer. It might be it might not be, depends on the undergarments and depth (neoprene compresses and loses thermal performance a depth, shells don't). So "compressed&...

Looks like dan volker from the west palm beach area. That guy can swim! Reminds me of the time me and pensacola diver went on a dive boat north of west palm and saw 5+ sharks. One of the guys cut open his fresh speared fish and the sharks wasted no time consuming that fish. Was both scary and fascin...

You could build a 4s li-ion battery pack. If you have a power supply you could test it on a bench before shelling out the coin >.> that's just something I've done in the past for my builds.

Re: Broken Stain Relief
The strain relief does two jobs, keeps the nut from digging into the cable and keep the cable from bending to an extreme angle and eventually causing a tear and thus causing the cable to lose its watertight integrity. The relief NORMALLY does not seal the unit. The gland you have posted is assembled...

Re: Any Lawyers out there???
I have heard from DMs and instructors they can be held responsible even if they aren't being paid for the job, I.e just a friendly dive with random people.
I'm with you though, they shouldn't be sued for non paid friendly dives. The use of lawsuits have become overused in America, IMOO.
