Poseidon wanted a new Queen, it seems, and he insisted on nothing but the best. Rest in peace, my dear. Your contributions to this community -- near and far; in person or in posts -- will never be forgotten. I asked myself, or others, many times, "What would Lynne do?" We will continue to ...

All logic aside, I'm going with my heart on this one. I refuse to accept this as an outcome until there is undeniable proof. She's missing. They are searching. That's all we know. Blessings and prayers for all.

Re: Sad News at Hoodsport

There are other aspects of this i'm curious about, such as are there higher risks of blood clots due to dehydration from a night of sleeping and then drinking coffee and not drinking a bunch of water cause stopping to pee on the trip is an inconvenience and then sitting for 3 hrs, etc... (I don't k...

Re: H2O SCUBA Show

The promotion for it was pretty much nonexistent. They didn't even bother to throw up a Facebook page for it, which is free and takes about 5 minutes, let alone any paid advertising that I'm aware of. We probably would have given them a free ad on this site if they'd asked nicely. The irony was tha...

Re: Help US help Washington Scuba Alliance!

UPDATE: We're getting close! Shazaam! We are almost there: the buoy fund currently sits at $2808 thanks to the generosity of our friends and members. BUT WE AREN'T DONE YET. We must reach $3200. The group must write a check for this amount to Washington Scuba Alliance at the end of next week. This m...

Re: Help US help Washington Scuba Alliance!

THANK YOU, BILLZ. Your donation is appreciated. :supz: The original location chosen was Arrowhead. But... at that time, Jefferson County initially wanted an additional $497 for permitting fees. Fees that all other counties had waived, completely. But we thought we'd swing it somehow. Apparently when...

Help US help Washington Scuba Alliance!

Oregon Scuba Club is gathering donations for a second buoy as part of Washington Scuba Alliance's buoy initiative. Last year a club member donated one buoy in our name, and challenged us to raise money for a second. That was a tall order as our active but informal group has never raised money like t...

Emily has a point. It's a double edged sword, a successful search function. Lots of great info here. And if people find it, they won't post, and discussion won't occur. That's got a downside -- newer members won't have a chance to participate, and thus grow their roots on the resource. And "reh...

why are we even talking about this ? it happened in a cave, in Florida, we dive in Washington.. what is the point I admit to voraciously following the dissection and discussion that follows events like this. Jason, damn that avatar's creepy! What/where is it from?

Sounds like you'll have great guides at the site. The fishbowl is one of my fav areas (top of north wall) and don't discount the shallows between the north and south walls. I've seen giant nudibranch mating games there, and grunt sculpin!

Easy breezy diving in the Florida Keys; I recommend Quiescence in Key Largo. Airfare even from here is a bear, though. Maui is certainly closer for you. I highly recommend Extended Horizons in Lahaina. LOVE that crew. :luv:

Congrats on the improvements, and wishes for many more. :joshsmith:

Re: wetsuit thickness

From talking to a diver or two who has moved to this area, you CAN affect your cold tolerance, to some degree. It would seem we all have a biothermal limitation, and then also a mental sense of comfort limitation. It would seem that some people ward against even the smallest chill, ALWAYS keeping th...

Re: Tire Gas and Bottle Hunting Are Killing Me

I'd read some material (from DAN, maybe) that said there was no scientific research supporting the claims that one felt better/less tired/etc. after diving on Nitrox compared to air. I'm usually pretty skepitical, but all I can say is after I started diving Nitrox I called bullshit on that... maybe ...
