Re: what car would make a good dive car? yes-- this is gear :)
School bus. Remove the seats. Awesome. Short or Long? Personally, I'd go for the short bus 'cause it has the nifty hydraulic ramp for lifting gear. That and it would remind me of my childhood. #-o Either. Lots 'o dive buddies? Long. Also good for extended trips when retrofitted with beds, toilets a...

Re: Navigation skills (or lack thereof)
Start simple. Grab a snorkel and navigate to the honeybear at Cove 2 on the surface. Get a bearing from one of the boundary line buoys, pop the snorkel in and kick. Don't look up to check your progress. Once you're confident you can swim from the 4th buoy to the piling that marks the bow consistentl...

dsteding got it right. The shower is there grasshopper; use it. Commuter mugs are insanely popular for a reason. Breakfast sandwiches were invented for multitasking Americans. Bring it on tough guy. :naka: We have knives, spear guns, Don't forget binkies! What's a binkies? :dontknow: It's plural for "binky," which is slang for pacifier (a nipple provided to a baby for comfort sucking and parental sanity) and was recently used to refer to a dive computer. :book:...

You could risk it, you could buy proplugs and risk it, or see Dr. Kay. His address is at the bottom of his web page.
I recommend the latter option.

Re: What's the advantage of a BP?
Or you take a lot of PADI classes that require that you don and doff your BC at the surface? I've taken off my BP/W on the surface twice. Release waist buckle, undo crotch strap, undo drysuit hose and take off bungied octo if so equipped, slide one arm out, slide other arm out. I wasn't in a pool e...

Re: What's the advantage of a BP?
The steel BP takes weight off your belt, and puts it above your lungs, where it helps you trim out better. Most BC's have a lot of inherent bouyancy, which means you get to take off whatever weight you're using now to counteract that. For example: when I started diving I wore 40lbs on a (rental) we...

Re: Wrist computer- left or right wrist??
My computer is on my right arm and my left hand holds the canlight head and manages my wing's inflator and un/clipping my SPG. I can use either hand for my drysuit inflator. Come to think of it I use my right hand to inflate my wing occasionally.

Re: Lake Washington Wreck Diving
What an odd dive. Just when you think you're getting the hang of it Lake WA throws you a curve ball. I should know better by now... :toimonster: My dad (the fisherman) informs me Sockeye will spawn in the south end of the lake near cold-water-springs that pump oxygenated water into the lake. That's ...

Re: Drysuit Zipper maintenance
I use a zipper cleaning solution/brush and zipper wax available at NWSD that seems to work great. Zipper cleaner once every week to one month depending on your dive schedule and zipper wax after every rinse/dry session. I also rinse the bloody heck out of the suit after a dive in salt water. I'll ju...

No drysuit card. No class. No checkout dives with an instructor. I was simply dropped in the water with a half-full steel 72 and told (as my feet hit the water) "sink or swim" followed by the most manically evil [/b] laughter I've ever heard. :pale: :smt119 I'm just kidding :evil4: Well, n...
