Liquivision X1

I have retired from technical diving due to an unfortunate accident that some of you might still remember in May of 2011. I have a brand new (replacement) liquivision X1 dive computer loaded with v planner for sale. It is currently located at Tacoma Scuba, Joshua has been trying to help me find a bu...

Re: This doesn't sound good...

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, almost didn't get to have another one so I really appreciate it. I am nearly fully healed from the replacement of the bone in my left upper arm. Physical therapy twice a week for a while. I am back to work on light duty again at the Fire Department, and hope to go...

Re: This doesn't sound good...

Well, where do I start. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts for me and my family. To end all speculation, this is what really happened on that day. I failed to clearly set in my mind, a maximum depth for the dive. I was looking for the barge in front of Salty's and came under the effects of n...

Re: Tacoma and south

Lobster shop is minimum 85 feet and deeper to see anything. There is a bottle field between the entry and the Lobster shop at 30 ft or so. There is a nice eel grass bed in front of the entry that is worth seeing on a high tide at night. We did old town dock yesterday. The entry is kind of tough, dow...

There is nothing wrong with diving an 80 with 32 percent, makes an awesome sling bottle, although I would sling another 40 also just in case.

Re: Les Davis Marine Park

We dove there last night at the tail end of a huge ebb, minus tide. No current until the end of the dive, then it got quite interesting..... I was at 20 ft near the pier and had to crawl back to the entry with stuff flying by in my face and zero vis. It was a 4.5 max ebb in the narrows but current w...

Re: A New Site!

Go left of the entry to the point where they launch the paragliders and you will find a very large dry dock 10-40 ft covered in life. Go right of the pilings to the point and you will find a few old bottles. Never found any in front of the Mill that were very old.

Re: GPOs in cove2...

Seems to be a population explosion of GPO's this year, every dive every site I have seen multiples.

4 at the pipeline in Tacoma, 8 at Titlow, 4 at Day Island (two on the deep wall where I have never seen one before), 2 at the Lobster Shop Wall, 2 at Les Davis, all within the last week.

Re: Liquivision X1

Crab pot recovery, looking for one, found two in kill mode with trapped crab. I had found the float and rope on a previous dive. Funny thing about trimix at that depth, it doesn't last very long. Something about that whole compression thing or something. Kind of challenging to do any work at those d...

Re: on freedom of choice & the "you're gonna die" mentality

Translation: if you can drink 6 Martini's and drive home safely, its ok to dive to 198 ft on air? 7 = 231 and etc?
I like where this is going.

Re: Human Remains Found In Tiger Shark

I get to dive with a Tiger shark at the Point Defiance Zoo. They are spooky up close with no cage. We get a little piece of PVC pipe to wave if it decides to come too close. The teeth look like Dracula's fangs. Nice.

Re: Tacoma Pipeline dive 9/9

You can only do the surface swim on minimal exchanges best at the end of flood. There can be lots of surface current that far from shore to start with, and the line has lots of scope on a low tide. It is tied off on a vertical float 30 ft or so off the bottom. I have been caught in down welling curr...

Re: Liquivision X1

Hi all, the Saga continues..... I bought another Liquivision X1, one of the newly updated models with the side contacts and have been putting it through the Kirby test again. (ok so I am stupid, but I think you remember me mentioning that I really loved that computer) 31 dives since the 10th of July...

Guess I will find out, only days I have off. I will let you know where the boat ended up picking me up when I get blown off the site...... Anyone have a satelite transponder I can borrow? I have done Day Island in a 1.2 knot, probably no worse?

Re: Port Townsend

Cool, thanks for the info, needed that to bring the right gas. I have been pulling bottles out of Tacoma and in Seattle at Cove 2 in the 150 to 210 ft range. Not alot of divers going that deep for bottle hunting.

Now what fun is a fish story with you guys around. Don't you know it's bad manners to call someone out? No one has topped his story yet. And just exactly what is the truth anyway? It is a product of the community consensus. It didn't happen if you didn't get a picture anyway, and what happens under ...

I'm headed up there the 10th and 11th, never dove there before. Am interested in bottle hunting and depth profiles of the sites. Got some info from the local dive shops site, anyone have any other advice? For those of you that know me.... does it get deep there from shore? I find the best bottles in...

Re: Narced? You be the judge.

If it's temporary it's technically a TIA not a stroke. I used to get that when I drank a pint of Jack Daniels too... so I'm thinking Narcosis. I usually get that somewhere between 210 and 220 on air.

Re: Decompression and dive computer

I like to think of decompression as swimming up to a hole in the side of a very large ship wreck. You can poke your head in the hole, or even go into the first room pretty safely, but you can't go straight up to safety any longer if you have a problem. How far into the hole are you willing to go? Pe...

Is it narcosis when your whole face feels numb and you have to keep reaching up to make sure your regulator is still in your mouth?

Re: Red Brotula Sightings

I saw two Red Brotula yesterday on the pooper pipe in Tacoma, one at the first joint behind the bolts on the South side at 100 ft, the other out at the end of the pipe at 150 ft. There is a colony there in permanent residence, I see them on nearly every dive, often just a glimpse in the crack before...

Re: Liquivision X1

My friend just got his replacement computer and let me use it on a Nanaimo trip (very good friend). Took it to 200+ 4 times and 309 once. It still lives. Another guy on the trip took his to 367 on open circuit. Nice trip. All three liquivision computers on the trip were the newly updated replacement...
