Re: photo 101 help
What camera do you have? To achieve a black background while using a strobe you need to adjust the aperture so that it will not allow in much light. If you where using a dslr then the camera would meter very low in the exposure bracket. However since you're using a point and shoot that has very limi...

FS. olympus 6020 and housing
Won a small photo competition and received a dedicated point and shoot package. I shoot dslr and will not need a small portable camera system like this. I have taken it into the water once; that was to test the new panoramic feature, which is pretty cool. You can get a panoramic shot just by sweepin...

Re: line shape and form of the human body ( NUDE)
LOL, you guys (dphershman) have an odd way of talking behind a persons back. Even though the question was not directed at me, I feel I must defend my morality of posting a shot taken under Oahu waters on a PNW forum. So here is what I thought others would like to comment on (or you could read the ab...

I'm not sure this is appropriate for this type of forum. But if I'm being overly sensitive and prudish, at least put a warning on the thread that is isn't appropriate to open at work. you're absolutely right, Sometimes I forget these things as an artist. I removed the Embedded images and one can se...

line shape and form of the human body ( NUDE)
For photo design class we needed to create a black and white nude of the human body. The instructor wanted us to create the lines and beauty of the human body using light. I believe he wanted similar to "bodyscapes" created in the studio. My idea was the light ripples carving the lines of ...

Ducks from below.
While walking my dog at evergreen park in bremerton I came upon a small cove filled with ducks, and I thought to myself " how cool would that be.. seeing all those ducks underwater!" so yesterday I donned my dive gear to check it out. I was glad to see that these must be resident ducks bec...

Most of you know that I moved down here from Oahu. Well after I moved I convinced my girlfriend of 2 years to move down here with me and hopefully progress our relationship further.... It took her 4 months of wet, cold washington to say fuck that! She moved back to Hawaii last week. Sob story cut sh...

My Best friend and dive buddy is deaf, He is an amazing Freediver.
ASL is also an amazing tool while underwater. especially as a photographer. IMO the aquatic world is one where the tables are turned, the deaf surely have the advantage.

Re: What is your fav dive loc in pnw??
I have yet to travel up to the PNW greats ( san juans & neah bay). So with my limited experiences here in Wa. I would say my favorite place is the Edmonds underwater park. The bulk of my underwater experiences have been in hawaii. Where most of the artificial reefs have been sunk in the 100 foot...

Re: Now I know why no one Freedives here
In hawaii, There are so many people in the water, surfers, divers, spearos, tourist, and turtles, that if a boater sees any kind of Float they stay away from it. In the few months that I have lived here I have repeatedly seen boaters inspect anything floating in the water like they are a f22 pilot o...

Now I know why no one Freedives here
No, It's not the cold! No, Its not the crappy vis! No, its not the crazy currents! Its the fact that no one on a boat gives a Fu*!% about dive flags. As I came up from a dive I turned around to see a boat heading around the corner.. It buzzed by me about 25' away, The driver didnt look in my directi...

Re: Who has a Canon S95 or G12 and what do you think?
Your going to experience shutter lag with any point and shoot. I have the cannon g10 and before that I owned the g9 Housed with cannons housing. Its an amazing system and gives ample room for growth. If your going to go with housing outside of the cannon brand I would recommend NOT going with the ik...

Hey I am a free diver in Washington, with a heavy background of diving on Oahu. I have not heard a lot of things about Oregon diving, But there are two locations I wan...
