Re: Anybody have some canon weights?
I've got some extra split shot fishing weights, maybe you could just dump a bunch of those in the housing. I'm sure them rolling around won't hurt anything......

Re: New action on Neah Bay dive area?
Like I said before I completely understand and agree with conservation; realistic, common sense conservation. I want fish populations to be around for future generations. But closing everything off is not realistic or common sense short of fish vanishing at an astonishing rate. What John is saying m...

Re: New action on Neah Bay dive area?
Still, I don't understand why some people think they should have a right to harvest from 100% of the area, thus making it impossible for other user groups to find an unfished area for their own forms of recreation. I agree with most of your post but this. 100% of the area is an already exremely sma...

Re: New action on Neah Bay dive area?
I can only hope that sane minds will prevail. I can tell you from recent experience that there are fish everywhere out there. Some of the supposedly endangered species like Yelloweye Rockfish are so populous that fishermen are reporting hauling up 20 -30 in a single day (and then presumably leaving...

Re: New action on Neah Bay dive area?
Yeah why not close it, it's about the only good place left to spearfish in WA that doesn't constrain you to one month of fishing per year. I like protected marine areas as much as the next guy for going and seeing stuff. But when pretty much the entire puget sound is protected, I think closing Neah ...

Re: Decompression and dive computer
I guess it would be nutty if you were the type that breathes like a bird and comes up with 1/3 of their gas left on a 72. Some people are a little bigger, breath a little more, or do other activities under water which require more gas and are not planning for a deco dive. I would gladly dive a 119 o...

Re: getting wet in seattle diving
Gear is expensive! But the most expensive is not always the best. Definitely try as much as you can before you buy. read and heed. Thats so true. I've got a $180 pair of twin jet split fins (they were the most expensive so OBVIOUSLY the best) that I would love to get rid of and get a pair of $100 t...

Re: getting wet in seattle diving
Wet suits are only cheap until you realize that you need a drysuit and wont ever use a wetsuit. If you ever want your wife to go on a second dive in the NW, get her a drysuit. As far as gear goes, don't just buy what the dive shop/instructor reccommends. I share the same opinions as a lot of other d...

Re: If you were going to buy a new drysuit today...
It is, but I'm going for something a little more multi purpose. That is unless someone buys it out from underneath me! I'm gonna be so pissed if that happens. One other person is supposed to be looking at it before me, the seller says if they don't take it, it's mine. It would replace one of the boa...

That sunflower star in the last picture looks like it's glowing from the inside. Like it's got lava underneath it. That's pretty cool.

Oceanic version? Is that to say that oceanic and hollis are the same manufacturer (it's like car companies, I'm not sure who owns who)? it's a hollis DC1 or DC2.

Din conversion?
Does anyone know if the din conversions are universal? Are the threads different for different manufacturers/models of regs?
I want to switch my yoke fitting on my first stage to a Din fitting but I don't see where Hollis makes a Din conversion, and lot of other manufacturers do.

I bought a used Whites shell suit off craigslist for $450 a couple years ago and it has served me very well. It is kinda long in the legs or I think more like my legs are short for the suit. :smt032 I have had no issues with it and I like how well the shell suit seems to me as tough skinned. I have...

Sounds like a good deal. Do you happen to know a dive shop that is selling them for that price with the undergarment? I would like to try one out.

Re: Rapid Ascent Cited in Scuba Death Near Black River Falls
LCF, I've thought about the same thing many times if I were to do deco dives and someone had a medical emergency. It truely would be a terrible situation, but can you justify skipping your own deco obligations to bring a buddy to the surface? I guess it depends how far into deco you are but it seems...

If you were going to buy a new drysuit today...
Which one would it be and why? Neoprene or shell? I'm considering making my next purchase a new drysuit and can't really afford something in the $2000+ range, so keep that in mind, and I wear a size 13 shoe, so if it comes with size 10 attached boots, that doesn't help either.
