Re: Skaana
Can you elaborate on what you mean by latex seal OVER the rings?girldiver wrote:I've been in the Skaana system for 3 years. Permanently mounted with the latex seal OVER the rings. No equalization tube. No fat hands...no popping glove...really...no issues.

Re: Dry gloves. . .
I would be interested in hearing from people diving dry gloves: -What do you use? -Do you like them? -What if anything would you do differently? -Biggest advantage? -Biggest Disadvantage? Has anyone switched from dry gloves back to wet glove and if so why? I am most interested in individuals practi...

I think Bob summed it up pretty well, but I'd like to add a few things: While momentum, buoyancy and trim are tangible differences when beginning to dive doubles, some of the more sublime differences have to do with the different error scenarios you can get yourself into, along with their symptoms. ...

PNW Tech Diving Conference Update
I'd like to extend a thanks to all those of you who have bought tickets for the Pacific Northwest Tech Diving Conference on Sunday. The tickets have been sold out for a while by now, and I'm already getting excited about the prospect of putting together an even bigger conference next year. The final...

Such a wake has almost caused me to have a fatal separation too. Not in a scuba diving context though. When sailing single handed off shore, with my boat under autopilot, and me falling overboard in the middle of the Baltic Sea with no land in sight due to such a wake. Not a pretty story, I tell you...

If you dive at Cove 2 enough you will make a mistake sometime. I have a few times under similar circumstances to those Lamont describes. I bet most people responding to this post have. I wouldn't come up at ferry depth unless I knew where I was but it's very possible to miss the rope when it's grow...

It is interesting how people feel different about using argon. Some people say it's a huge difference, others can't tell a difference. Some people, including very experienced people I deeply respect, think it makes a huge difference flushing the suit with argon before the dive, some (including me) t...

There has been a Norwegian Navy study done, with inconclusive results. IIRC, the study didn't show any significant difference between argon and air as drysuit inflation gas. The study can be found be searching a bit on the Internet. There are some big gaping holes in the study, though. The study mea...

Did a second dive on the Phoenix this morning, this time penetrating the cabin to check out the interior of the wreck. As is often the case on these small boats, the doors are pretty narrow, so I had to tilt over 90 degrees to be able to squeeze through the doorway. The double 104s are simply too wi...

Lamont: I have a copy of that bathymetry data, even though I haven't bothered with creating a TIN out of it. Pretty impressive work you've done, Lamont! I was jokingly referring to that when everyone knows which area of the lake is 200' deep, it'll be easier to find the Phoenix. But of course the ar...

Northwest Dive Club member rebate
This conference is run on a tight budget, and as a non-profit, but going over the numbers and thinking a bit about our goals, we decided to do the following: Northwest Dive Club members get a $2 rebate. Furthermore, for every ticket sold to a Northwest Dive Club member before July 1, Pacific Northwe...
