Rob, much of what I'm saying here is facetious ... of course, I don't believe that anyone actually WANTS someone to die. I do think, however, that people are quick to jump on diver deaths to find ways to rationalize their own belief systems. ... Bob (Grateful Diver) Good. Cause that would have been...

To be perfectly blunt about it, I think there are those in the anti-solo camp who prefer keeping solo unnecessarily dangerous so they can use the accidents and deaths to justify their beliefs ...... Bob (Grateful Diver) You have got to be freaking kidding me. You don't really believe that people wa...

Nope. That is the beauty of a free country!

Freedom to shop where you want, and freedom of speech to talk about it!

This will probably alienate me, but I don't care anymore.

I would not spend a penny at 5th D.

And I use to be their biggest fan.

Is a glass sponge the same as a cloud sponge, or is a glass sponge a category not a species? Looks like a poorly written article, but given the way they report on dive accidents, they seem to only get about half the story correct anyway. There are also Cloud sponges in the Puget Sound in 80 feet of ...

Due to current, swell, rapid changing weather, fog and a multitude of other factors, solo diving at Neah is risky business. There are no novice dives out there.

Probably a top 10 dive site in the world though I would think.

Duncan is nice, but Duntz is unreal...

You attach it to a reel and carry the reel or clip it to a D ring. That allows you to pay out and retrieve line as your depth changes. It's a common practice to tow your kayak while diving. Makes for a great drift dive option.

You can dive anytime it is open, as well as between 7 and midnight as I read it. Might want to call to validate. We did a scouting dive on Monday night around 9 pm. We found pockets of shrimp between 100 and 120 feet, decent numbers at 130, and vast herd between 140 and 160 and hordes of Little red ...

I don't think I would ever want to see a shrimp with tentacles.... That would be creepy! Maybe with all the pollution in Commencment bay we will see some soon.. I use a light, a bag and a stick. light makes them look at you (and back away, they don't like them), you put the bag behind them, careful ...

Shrimp Season is upon us!

Hey all: Shrimp season is upon us once more. Here is the announcement. Note that they do not call it out in the announcement, but if you check the regs, you will see you can dive for them in area 8-2 from 7 pm to midnight. Here is the release: WDFW NEWS RELEASE Washington Department of Fish and Wild...

Poachers should be fined, have their gear confiscated, and right to harvest revoked.

I agree that people should not hunt at popular dive sties, but keep in mind some people have been hunting at sites long before they became "popular".

Doctors with diving knowledge

Hello, I have a buddy who is trying to get back into diving. She has some ear issues (pain while trying to clear, etc), and wants to know if anyone out there knows of a good doctor who specializes in SCUBA topics.

Anyone out there have any advice?

I think all you strokes out there are missing the real value of DIR. It is more than a diving technique, it is a lifestyle as demonstrated in this very old but entirely true life scenario below. The whole thing is true. It came to me via the Internet so I know it's true... I converted to DIR about 6...

I don’t think anyone said that DIR/GUE owns the market on team diving. But that is their mainstay and primary focus as a training organization. The point I was making was that for me, the biggest value that GUE brings to me, is the consistent delivery of graduates that come out. The communication of...

I love my turtles. They are great fins (Turtles are jets on steroids for those of us with larger feet). However next year when I goto Florida for my annual spearfishing trip, I'm leaving them at home and buying a pair of the long free diver fins. I never thought I would ditch my turtles/jets under a...

Case study of why I like the DIR philosophy: I was in a 5 day GUE class a couple years back. The first three days I was diving with a good buddy that I have done about 700 dives with over the past few years. He and I have a 6th sense with each other underwater and can often predict what the other is...

This is the same thread that has been on every board since boards began!

What I always take away from it is people are way too concerned with what others think of them, and egos rule this sport (on both sides of the DIR fence).

And Richard, I know you are just jealous over my scooter!
