well at least I didn't say I liked Smirnov Ice. I also like some of the brews from a company in Fort Bragg, CA such as 'Arrogant Bastard.

Re: looking for info about DIR/UTD

I like microbrews just fine! One of my favorites is Rogue Ale. On a bigger scale I am a fan of Pyramid and Widmer. I really used to love that Widmer Black Raspberry. too bad they don't make that one anymore (at least that I can find)

Re: looking for info about DIR/UTD

haha! but that's the beauty of the system right? After watching DIR 3 on google video, (and as a martial artist) I really like the idea of massive repetition of skills to become proficient. I also like black.

Re: looking for info about DIR/UTD

thanks for the great replies, I think I may strongly have to consider building a team as you suggest. This would certainly seem to make the most sense. I totally agree about the instructor vs. agency thing though. My initial c-card is a PADI card. But the instructor was an old hard hat Navy diver in...

looking for info about DIR/UTD

Hi guys, I noticed when checking out the GUE website that there is nowhere to train this style of diving in the PNW. I did find the Frogkick website though. So is there really no GUE/DIR instructor located here? or is the GUE website not up to date? Also what are the differences between the GUE styl...

Okay the shop is bottom time scuba and its in Talent, Oregon. the website for them is www.bottomtimescuba.org. Anyhow if you live on the south end of Oregon or just want to dive down here I like them.

Re: New in Newport

When buying a wetsuit I would recommend a semi dry or one piece with a hood for diving on our lovely coast. I have a 2 piece 7mm farmer john with a separte hood and I can tell you that even with careful management of the bib I often get a nice cold wakeup shot of water down the spine while diving. I...

Re: College credit for select PADI courses?

I took NAUI advanced diver and Nitrox course at OIT since the 2 were combined they were worth 1 PE credit for both classes.
Taking dive classes at school is a really good option for full time students because you don't 'feel' the pain in the pocket book as much.

Re: New to the forum and in south oregon

What are the dates you want to dive?
I'll try and make it if the dates work. The 7th and 8th of August are the only days that I cannot come I work during the week so that's out but a weekend trip would be good to go.
There's a good shop in Crescent City if anything goes wrong.

Re: New to the forum and in south oregon

thanks for the welcome will do I'd love to dive that area but arranging dive buddies in the past was more work. I'm not gonna say its the best ever down here but it gets pretty good at times. There's a place that we can usually limit out on fish but the vis is maybe 10-15 feet most of the time. And ...

Re: New Diver at the Oregon Coast

Awesome! If you are interested in diving out of a boat I have a buddy that is a licensed captain (50 ton I think) and I believe he runs out of Newport once in a while. he also runs out of Crescent City on a very regular basis. If you are interested post here and I'll PM you the shop that you can cha...
