Re: Nice article/post about offshore Oregon diving.
I have done a bit of diving out of Crescent City, and a bit less of shore diving out of Brookings, and I thought the article was great. I have had days out at the Point St. George Lighthouse when I could see the bottom from about 30-50 ft above it. And the last time I was over their, a couple of yea...

Re: Oregon Field Guide: Diving the Oregon Coast
You know, I have been preaching the beauty of the diving in Oregon for several years. It was sort of gratifying to have someone confirm what I have been saying. I do think most of the best diving is to be had from a boat. So thanks for posting.

Re: For you cavers...
if you are talking about Al Sarena, I think it might be accessible, because Elk Creek Road is a pretty major, well maintained road (at least as far as gravel roads go :)) What I meant by UTD got to it is that if you go to their website and search Hall City cave you can watch video of the exploration...

For you cavers...
I was looking around for an old mine (called the Al Sarena mine) when I came across something called the Hall City Cave located near trinity CA. Apparently the cave goes back in and ends in a pool of water which may be deep enough to make it worth trip. here is a link to another forum that talks abo...

Re: wetsuit thickness
I am going to go ahead and necro this because I have been diving a two piece farmer john in south Oregon and Crescent City, CA for several years. First dive is always fine, second dive freezes your butt off. Now I wish I had one of those one piece hooded semi dry suits with the silver inside for one...

Hi all, How the UTD online courses work? I am interested in some of the courses they are offering (i.e.: the Master Scuba diver path) which lists a whole bunch of classes for $299. What exactly would I be getting for that price? Classroom instruction? Books? online classroom instruction? thanks, Bri...

So Now I am trying to find another buddy or group to dive with that weekend. I am not too familiar with that ar...

Re: Canon Powershot S100 - photos?
IF you are still interested in the pictures that the powershot s1takes, I have several from different dive trips, I am a pretty bad photographer so you can get a look at how it performs in the hands of a total novice. I also have a bit of video from both lake Tahoe and Monterey CA that I took.

Re: New Divers from Oregon
Welcome! I am up for diving as well. I have found Harris beach can be good if you catch it at the right time. It's a marine reserve so there is all kinds of life there. The downside is hauling gear down the trail to the beach (and back up again).

Re: Dive Buddy/Buddies in Central Oregon?
Hey I am down here in Klamath. It's been two years since I was in the water but I wouldn't mind driving to central Oregon. Just let me know. I am also interested in forming team and learning UTD/DIR diving so if your interests lie in that area maybe we can get something going? if your interests are ...

Re: Beach diving?
so the update for my trip is that I did not get to dive at Port Orford. Instead I went out on the boat with a friend who is also my instructor. We had pretty rough seas that day due to high winds, but the dive was pretty good in spite of poor surface conditions (although it was a really nice sunny d...

Diving Port Orford Labor Day Weekend
Hi guys, I am looking for a buddy for Saturday of the holiday weekend to dive Port Orford. I am not new to Oregon Coast diving, But I have never been diving at Port Orford. I am hoping to spear some fish for dinner that night. I don't care who I dive with. My current cert level is NAUI advanced dive...

Re: Backplate webbing question
Just an update: I actually ended up getting the Dive Rite basic harness for 25 bucks, it's just a piece of webbing with the grommet already installed. It also came with all of the D-rings and a new buckle. So now I have a spare.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

Re: Backplate webbing question
I am in south Oregon. My instructor down here in Klamath falls offered me some webbing for free; if that still stands, I'll get it from him. If not I'll probably get if from scubatoys.com; they also have webbing in different colors. I kind of like either black or mavby some of that Halcyon stuff wit...

Backplate webbing question
Hi guys, I am itching to get rid of my transplate harness and go for the traditional Hog style web harness. How many feet of 2" webbing do I need? Also what is appropriate for the crotch strap webbing? 1 or 2 inch? Finally, Is there a good video or diagram available anywhere on how to thread th...

Re: Beach diving?
Cool. I think right now I am planning to dive at Battle Rock state park. I think we and our friends are all camping at Humbug. Anyway there is a big old rock that looked fairly interesting right there at the beach. I have been wanting to dive it for a few years. I am thinking I will spearfish the th...

Re: Beach diving?
Sorry to necro this thing, but I thought I might be able to add something to this topic. I have been shore diving off Oregon beaches a few times. My personal favorite so far is Harris beach. I have not done anything off the main beach that you can drive down to; instead I prefer to dive the 'south b...

Haha! wonder why that is? One I do like anytime is that song they used in the Sherlock Holmes movie when he's fighting that old-style MMA bout. The Road to (something can't remember...). Anyhow that one's awesome.
