Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

I have the proof on a You-tube video that is no way edited or faked. But it can only be accessed if you live in Greenland I live in Greenland and cannot get the video on youtube. I think you're wrong about that video Cera. Are you completely certain that video is available in Greenland? Really? May...

Re: Treasure hunt??

A few years back I "won" a live aboard trip in Indonesia. Of course it was double occupancy and since I only got one spot it would have cost me about $6000 to go with my husband. Handing out 'coupons' is why I no longer go.

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Thanks for making me smile at the end of this "heavy thread". Ok here you go. That's what could have happened, but here is what really happened: So I take the tank to the shop and when they go to open the valve instead of air, it screams like an old woman. They give me a strange ...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Shop said they took it apart, and did a valve rebuild and it worked. I guess they weren't as interested in finding out the problem as I was. Sorry to get everyone so excited.

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Ok, gosh, you guys kill me. OF COURSE they put a gauge on and checked, it read 0. So he opened the vavle, let it run, heard the air, opened it farther, let it run. Said "that much air should have registered." (I did not time how long it was open, so now I assume you will find some issue wi...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Ok angry mob! I must apoligize because I did not know it would take me this long to get it in. We live 50 miles from the nearest shop and my husband just had surgery, so..... I dropped the tank off today. They were baffeled as well. After they let the air out of the tank (yes there was air in it! It...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Now you realize why this is so bizzare, we thought that the HP ports had failed. It's a din vavle, No "J's" in sight.

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Ok, I have calmed down.. It took almost a day! lol Sigh, I understand you are trying to be helpful (sort-of). But I don't understand why you can't approach the problem from a different angle, like I asked. Obviously empty was a first thought when it read 0. But I am 100% sure there is over 500 lbs o...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

I guess it isn't obvious, but if I thought the tank were empty, I would not have posted this. If I had not checked the tank, MANY times to see if it were empty, I would not have posted this. Is it really so difficult to believe that a valve could fail?

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

So if I understand correctly, you've tested the tank in question with three different gauges and they all read zero? Either all three gauges are reading incorrectly or there is no (hardly any) air in the tank no? Yes, correct three gagues, where the HP hose does not receive pressure, but the LP por...

I downloaded my computer, it said there was 2930 when I turned the air off at the end of the first dive.

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Ok even if my usage was at .7 it would still be 2300 or 1300 or 500psi left, it should still read.. Mine is around .4. If we agree to state that there IS air in the tank, there in lies the problem. (Can we just continue with an argument from this stand point please?) I just hooked up an analog gauge...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

If this is the case, answer a question for me. How did the tank go from 2930 psi to 0-200 psi during a surface interval between dives without anybody noticing? A few possibilities: Gauge was misread. Gauge malfunctioned (electronic) possibly reset between uses and now working. Tank was mistaken for...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

Yes Wayne. Correct. We even opened the tank valve and let it run for over 30 seconds and it was still giving air. Turned it off, turned it back on, still giving air. Under 200 psi would not have given air that long. As soon as I get the tank I will hook an analog gague up to it, but I don't have it ...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

We also assumed it was the first stage, since it was so bizzare. WE assumed that it was the HP ports of my first stage. But when my hubands did the exact same thing we were sure it was NOT the first stage, especially since all of the LP ports were working. Like I said, I had the reg's looked at afte...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

To clarify, I used the entire set-up on a different tank, and it worked fine. It was just this tank. My husbands set-up did the same thing, on the same tank, (read 0). I also know there is still lots of air in the tank. I told you it was strange. We will put an analoge gauge on when we get the tank ...

Re: Strangest equipment failure ever!

The entire Line was not pressurizing... not just the console. When you turn air on you can feel the line fill with air, it was not doing that. I know it seems impossible. We haven't re-tried yet, we don't have the tank right now.

We turned the tank on and let it run, there was lots of air in it. More than enough to register.

Re: Octopus Hole Sunday 3/20/2011

We were diving at Mikes on Sunday conditions were awful! Worst I have ever witnessed on the canal! It did open up below about 40 feet, but still yuck! And it was 46 degrees! Brrrr. On saturday I did witness an Octopus steal a nest of Ling Cod eggs! The Ling was not very happy! But that was really co...

Strangest equipment failure ever!

Ok, this is a new one for me. I was diving on my steel 100 din tank with my Apex regulators. Did my first dive came out, turned off my air. Went to do my second dive, turned tank back on (without touching anything else) and my computer read 0 (cobra intergrated). I still had 2500 lbs left in my tank...
