Re: Nice way to end the year ...

I think it probably is too cold to dive, if you are sane . . . but I doubt many of the people on this board fall into that category! LOLOL. Sorry for the wait on video from the day... video's going to get to wait due to unforseen things coming up at work. It's been a long week and it's just now Tue...

Re: newbie question on diving gear???

We spent quite a bit of time at the logs -- average depth for the dive (which was 59 minutes long) was 62 feet. It helps to be a girl, but practice is even more important! +1 with the caveat of practicing in a variety of environments and skill level to gain maximal comfort in new situations. Do the...

Re: Cove 2 rodeo, My people, and a Unicorn sighting

It was awesome diving with you Ben! Much hilarity and lovely sights. So glad you could join us! As Ben mentioned, we saw a lot of awesome things on dive #1. As Ben also mentioned, along the way we came across a nice sized GPO hanging out on his/her front porch. What he didn't mention was that we saw...

I'd love to get out diving with the rest of the GUE and UTD crew to guage where the next logical step would be.. Tec1 or Cave1 ? cheers Koos Koos, there are awesome groups of GUE, UTD, and NAUI Tech folks who go out diving... a lot... and a lot of this diving is done together. Generally speaking we...

Nicely done especially considering it's a first effort! And...yes. It can be expensive! There is no "can" about it... it just IS. But since it's also a lot of fun, it's worth it... :) Once you get the camera, housing and lights, you'll then find you want a supercomputer, about 3 mega-backu...

Like Kathryn just said, thanks everyone! :) It was fun to be featured, and hopefully we conveyed a sense of awe and respect for our local waters and critters while being good reps for our local dive community. Looks like we'll get to do it again soon, which is also fun. Big congrats! What a beauty t...

I'm sorry if this looked like some kind of personal attack. I've never met you, and I have the utmost respect for research and survey dives. Re: Dive/Ocean-related tattoos

I have an ever-growing "story tattoo" that you can sort-of see in my profile pic. So far, the diving related parts are waves/water, a sea-turtle, and two cave-arrows indicating completion of the 2 levels of training. In a few weeks I'm adding to the story, part of which will be to incorpor...

Hi everyone, Well, I can't speak for the line left on many wrecks mentioned in this thread, because I haven't been on most of them yet. To date, I haven't seen a T1 wreck that was "littered" in line. I have seen line used to link very disjointed elements of a wreck (Avenger) or for scooter...

Snow Day Blue Water Dreamin'

Happy Snowy Thanksgiving! Well, living in a city that shuts down after 3 snowflakes can sometimes be good. School gets cancelled and I get to telecommute... which means I finish way faster, which means extra time to edit film. Back in July my husband and I spent a glorious week+ of time in Grand Cay...

Lovely lumpy footage! :) I see that it is a bit of a universal struggle to get them close-up and in-focus all at the same time, especially when moving. They're tricky. At what depth did you come across the squid? Were they also in the eelgrass? I hope to head back out with some change-up in lighting...

Halloween Lumpsucker Dive

In celebration of Halloween, some friends and I went lumpy hunting. We wore our scuba-diver costumes, and the lumpies wore their worlds-most-adorable-fish costumes. I coulda benefitted from having my off-axis lighting tech and mayhap another lens for the housing, but even in spite of the absence of ...
