I believe HP 117's are the exact size/weight as LP95's, so why not just go with the hp tank?

Re: Point Hudson
Hi Update on this thread. Above, 60south kindly recommended the following station for diving Point Hudson: "Point Hudson, 0.5 mile E of, Washington Current" However, I noticed that XTide now recommends the following station instead for Point Hudson area predictions "Point Hudson, 0.5 ...

NOAA current prediction stations
Hi! NOAA offers a very large number of current prediction stations for Puget Sound. Unfortunately, they offer a terrible UI experience to navigate to them. We recently (at least temporarily) added links to all the NOAA predictions to a new pnwdiving.com map. Has anybody found NOAA predictions useful...

Re: Tank input
Painted faber steel 117's are the best I've dived with! (Should look something like this: https://www.diversdiscountflorida.com/prodDetails.cfm?itemID=3247&6) I also sometimes also use 130's or 133's just because of the extra gas. They're significantly heavier. Of those I prefer the 130, but I t...

Hi! Looks like the wind forecast is not good for tonight. There's a lot of southwest wind in the sound making many of the sites questionable tonight. Think we'll sit it out unless somebody really wants to do cove 2.

Howdy! Who's up for diving this Thursday? Note, the tide will be super low, and be aware of the possibility of the Redondo River. Jess and I may not make it due to potential other plans.

Howdy! Who's up for diving this Thursday? Last week we had tons of small octos, bay pipefish of various sizes and colors, a horned shrimp, poachers, two stubby squid (one small, one huge), a whitespotted greenling on a big egg mass, tons of brittle stars and shrimp, a sea cucumber orgy, alabasters, ...

Re: ThThTh 11/18
Hi. Redondo is not a super current sensitive site, but yes, when there's a big ebb like this sometimes you can get an effect there known as the Redondo River. It generally flows strongest right in front of the pier as a downwelling. Most often it occurs at the beginning or end of the ebb. Usually it...

Who's up for diving this Thursday? 6-6:30meet at the 'Dond. Last week was great with stubby squid, horned shrimp, grunt sculpin, bay pipefish, lots of gunnels and shrimp, quite a few nudies, a big squid hovering around an egg mass, plenty of small lumpies, and lots of tiny octos! There'll be a big e...

Re: BCD Recommendation
If you're more serious about diving I would recommend looking at a backplate plus harness as well... It allows you to get much more horizontal in the water and put on things like bail out bottles to the side. But they're a little less beginner-friendly and less travel friendly. I suspect that she'd ...

Re: BCD Recommendation
Hi
I'd think most dive shops could help you find something. Weight integrated systems typically don't need to be augmented. If anything, get a steel tank to help. Also, that seems like a lot of weight, she may be overweighted.

20" is not bad, but a bit more won't hurt. You can extend that a bit by getting longer arm clamps. They provide more comfort to boot!

Yay so glad you found them!
A good lumpie shot is hard to come by!
They start being a better size/shape/color for photography (IMHO) in about a month.

Re: Arm to strobe length maximum distance
Hi It will depend on the type of shots you want to take. Richard Salas started a trend of using long arms for backlighting macro or mid range subjects. You need arms long enough to be able to reach around the back of your subject. For general macro, you probably don't need arms as long as Derek, but...
