With how bad traffic was last week, I should leave now.
It wasn't that bad! Maybe 5 min delay?

ThThTh 8/6

Howdy folks! Who's up for diving this Thursday Aug 6? Two dogfish were spotted last week. Should be cooler temps. Bring a beverage for socially distant apres-dive in the lot. I may bring some food too! 630 meet.

Re: Mike's Beach?

Hi
There's nothing deeper than 40 at Sekiu. I see no problem with that!
Salt Creek may have better camping and is pretty close to Sekiu. I'd say Sekiu has better diving these days.

Re: Mike's Beach?

Don't know. Flag pole is great tho. But a long swim.

I'd recommend sekiu ... dive on a stretch of high tide, low swell/surf days days

Welcome Back! Anacortes diving is a great shop. A bit on the high price side but a great shop worth patronizing for great support. Member sharkb8 here is also from Bellingham, he may have more advice on local shops there. Local sites for you I guess would be Keystone and Skyline and Rosario Beach? O...

Very cool! Do you think a surface scoot would have been better? How would you compare the reef to other sites?

Re: Sea Spiders at Three Tree

I ran into quite a few of these when I dove the site earlier this year. I have since been keeping my eyes open, but have not run into any of these critters anywhere lately. Is anyone aware of any sites with Spider sightings? IMG_8480.jpg IMG_8470.jpg IMG_8445.jpg Hi! Nice pics! We used to see these...

ThThTh 7/9

Howdy Folks! Who's in for diving Thursday 7/9/2020? Last time we had multiple octo, stubby, grunt, opalescent nudibranch sightings, and there was even a lobster and dogfish sighting! I might bring some food supplies again... hmm... rainy forecast, maybe Japanese Curry? (if you haven't ever had it, y...

Meant to post this here earlier:

Howdy Folks! I will bring brats, hotdogs, buns, ketchup, mustard, kraut, grilled onions & peppers, corn for plenty of folks. Plus we have forks/plates/napkins. Bring your own chairs, tables, beverage or small desert to share (from a distance)

Yes there were a couple days with over a dozen divers. Several days with only 3 of us, guess you can't guess who :)

Re: Good Sites for Low Tide?

A couple things can make high tide dives better than low tide dives: + easier water access at some sites. Salt water state park for instance would be a long walk in the mud at low tide + high tide often can have better visibility as the water is more diluted vs mixing down in the mud flat you often ...

We'll probably be at keystone for 9. We were going to do deception but the forecast + that tide doesn't look for a pretty exit.

Re: New Transplant from the Midwest

Great! Is the nearby brewery you speak of The Diamond Knot? Fun place to go, just because its named after a local shipwreck/divesite. Don't go if you have a peanut allergy though, lol. Another nearby option is the Mukilteo Lodge, slightly better food. A couple of us are on Whidbey tomorrow, let us k...

Re: New Transplant from the Midwest

The ideal time to jump in on Sunday is at 6:15 am. 5pm is also a better choice. You want to jump in slack before flood if you can. The slack before ebb is hard to predict and would be way easier than 11. Try maybe 9 splash if those other times don't work for you. When the currents are running you ha...

Re: New Transplant from the Midwest

Welcome! Keystone's is a great dive site! Unfortunately, you just hit the end of Keystone season! You can dive keystone at other times but the tides are best the first half of the year, which is now past. The sweet spot is to dive this site an hour before slack on a mild flood (1.5 knots or preferab...
