Re: po2:1.4ata for dive planning but 1.6 for contigency. Why?
That's for NDL limits, (deco problem) but as long as you don't run up to 100% of your O2 exposure level in 24hours, there's not reason to sit out a second dive. I very much doubt that a brief drop to 1.6 on a recreational dive is going to cause that. I've purposely set my computer to 50% Nitrox and...

I don't know about Sitka, but it was 60 degrees and beautiful here in Juneau on Sunday! What a nice break! Of course it's back to it this week, supposed to be back down in the twenties!

Re: What are your big dive plans for the long weekend?
Don't know yet.
We just had a fishing boat sink in ~100' If the weather holds maybe we'll take my boat out there and salvage DEC's oil boom that went down with the boat. I'm sure they would like to have it back.
Otherwise, I don't know.

Re: Playa Del Carmen
Read up on Loco Gringo if you are going to drive. I drove there for 2 weeks straight never had a problem but I was prepared when I went. We stayed in Akumal but went to PDC a couple times as well as Tulum and everywhere in between no problems.

I have no Idea but it was a bunch! Just finished the last one. Nice little 40 minutes. At least the water was warm, the air is about 0' . I think the most in a single day was probably about 6 averaging 20-30 minutes. Longest was 101 minutes, Deepest was 265'. I got 8 in Mexico 5 of those were with m...

I heard it doesn't count if you buy stuff in a different area code from your wife. :dontknow: Dave - I'm impressed with that snow diving. I've certainly dived in the snow, but not that kind of snow. I don't like snow diving, but I'll tolerate it if the mood strikes me. I'm impressed at your drive a...

Re: Christmas Eve Diving Alaska Style
I swam over a big rock and it was just sitting there. Flashed my buddies to come look. About that time a sealion showed up and I turned to watch the lion and my buddy Phil starts waving at me to turn around! I turned just as the Octo was about on me! I reached out and it's tenacle rubbed across my h...

Christmas Eve Diving Alaska Style
So, My buddy Josh brought his family home from Ft. Benning for Christmas. He asked months ago if we could get a dive in since all he's been able to do in GA and FL has been teaching and a few shallow caves. So we were diving regardless of the weather! So Josh, Bill, Phil and I met at my shop and pla...

Aw come on you guys! It hasn't broken 22 degrees in 2 weeks here, Now it's snowing like crazy and the harbors are all iced over. Our dive plan for tomorrow is to break through the ice then do an hour and a half going around an island. The outside of the island is forecast to have 6 foot seas and fre...

Re: Hijack this thread with good cheer!
My son and I left the house last night about 8:00 to take some night shots. It was about 0 degrees out when we left. Spent about a half hour out at the glacier taking shots of the stars then went to the harbor. The water was steaming and the wind was steady so the steam or fog was dancing across the...

Just ordered MP3 Player cases for me and all my buddies a couple weeks ago. We have a source for some much cheaper ones and thought what the heck a little tune age on deco never hurt! These are the same as the one that Mel has.

Probably 2 weeks in Akumal in late June. Working a homeswap with someone who has a condo there. Otherwise, Exploration, exploration, exploration.. Just got word of a sailing ship that sank near here and has never been found or looked for. Also have several others to find in addition to exploring for...

Yep,
A rebreather cost less than a 4-wheeler, a waverunner or even a high end PC ! and it opens tons of opportunities!

Re: 2.5" LCD monitor....where to buy locally?
I've got a monitor back on my housing. One thing I find interesting is that on the monitor, I'll think that the lights are washing out the video but when I get home. I usually find that the video is dark. So my point is that even with a good LCD you can't always trust what you are seeing. Just a tip...

Probably the most memorable was our attempt on the TBM Avenger off San Diego. We had 4 or 5 groups and spaced them 15 minutes apart. We were in the last group (Myself, Rob from SD and Robin the owner of Deep Outdoors) as we headed down, we passed most everyone else already on deco. When we got to th...
