Re: Anybody recognize these tanks?
That AL 80 is old there was some issue with those tanks I can't remember exactly what it was, something to do with the neck markings and the Hydro shop was supposed to correct it. Anything could be stolen but those look like they've been around awhile and somebody just doesn't know what they have.

Lightroom is $149 it's not unaffordable. I haven touched Elements in about 6 versions.

Re: RAW photos. What is the point?
I tend to agree with the above. Part of dealing with RAW images is having the right software which I suspect some if not most people are hesitant to spend the money on. Lightroom is a great package and allows you to work with the RAW images without actually making changes to the original file, you c...

Because Dave didn't tell anyone to $#$#@ Off and act like an ass? nor did he take it from one of the most popular dive sites in a city of several million. While I wouldn't eat it, Dave did not break any law taking the Nudi. No different from posting a picture of himself sitting next to a dead deer w...

Um yea, the V was new to the market when I learned to dive. Now it's RETRO!

On another note, - You can't use a sealant (aquaseal) to do the work of an adhesive (contact cement, seal cement, etc). That is part of the problem, TLS is tough to glue to but properly cleaned, we've had good luck using seal cement on DUI pockets to TLS, you just have to do the multiple glue coats ...

Re: Tank rack for a small boat
I had roll control on my Hewescraft. If you are using the same size tanks all the time then they are ok. If you swap tank sizes, put the BC's on the tanks beforehand, dive doubles, etc, then they aren't so great. I'll admit that where I had them mounted was a little low but with the boat design ther...

Re: Compressor Question
The last compressor I shipped up (mine) was $200 to Seattle and about $75 to Juneau on AML. So $275 isn't bad when the rest of the world pays $200. I would make every effort to stay away from the little guys. ~$3500 but you only get like 18 hours on a $65 filter. 18 x 3.5 cfm = 3780 cubic feet. Roun...

The low End KISS CCR’s seem an entry’ish level CCR? . Careful with statements like that when you don't know what you are talking about (yet). My KISS will go about anywhere that the rest of the units out there will go. There's no such thing as an entry level CCR they are all expensive and you buy t...

Because the boat is in State waters, not International waters and because I believe there was an insurance payout on this so the insurance company holds the rights to the boat even 100 years later.

If it was at 175' I would have been there done that. It's at 365' and in a 4-way channel that screams with current. Trust me, it's on the bucket list. Oh and yea, I'm sitting 10 miles from it right now. According to someone that was on Jayne's previous failed expedition, the remaining section of the...

Do some searching, there was a site out of Thailand or somewhere with rebuild manuals. For parts - compressor-parts.com Be prepared for sticker shock on the prices for s...

Re: Whats your worst diving mistake, and can you admit it?
24 years of diving, I have tons of them. The worst was probably getting lost under the ice in the harbor a couple years ago. Was working on a leaking water line and the only opening for 100 yards was where the water was leaking. Then there was the time I got hung up in the seine net again by myself....

Re: Bungy Speed Laces
Been doing this with rockboots for years. The only problem that I've had is eventually, the bungee will chaff through the loops. Good news is that you can lose 2-3 loops and it's not a big deal. I usually wear out the boots long before I totally kill the loops.

I would suggest you do your own research on a "team diving" approach rather than any one agency. Your instructor is way more important than the agency name on the card. The concept is very similar amongst most of the technical agencies. Go into it with open eyes and question everything you...

I would disagree about transmitters freaking out and failing "all the time" . It's actually IMO very rare that a transmitter has a problem. But I'm not looking to push you that route. Generally, if you have a "Hog or DIR or whatever" length HP hose it is the appropriate length to...

I believe that they are using Viking rings so the gloves need to be rubber inside and out and "snappy" to seal. Atlas are cloth lined and won't seal around the ring.Raydar wrote:What's wrong with the Atlas gloves from Fisheries Supply? Can get them for a little over $3 a pair.
