Alternative uses for drysuit undergarments
After a nice dive at Edmonds Underwater Park sometime last year, I ended up taking a several month long hiatus from diving (work got busy, blah, blah, blah--all lame excuses, I know). When I finally got back in the water months later, I couldn't find my Santi BZ400 undergarment or undergarment bag a...

Re: Puerto Vallarta Trip
This thread is probably a bit stale but I figured I chime in. I went a few years back on a shared boat with Vallarta Undersea and PV Scuba (seem to be out of business now). DMs from both shops were in a BP/W and had done some level of cave training in the Yucatan FWIW so there was no weirdness from ...

Free Dive Gear
I'm in the process of moving and came across some dive gear I just no longer use. All of this is free to a good NWDC home! Items are located on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Re: Housing for Nikon D3200
If the housing finders on Optical Ocean Sales' or similar sites doesn't turn up anything, a housing for the camera isn't available (unless it's an older model where you may be able to track down a used model). Manufacturers usually only produce housings for certain cameras that are popular or that w...

Sund Rock was quite good (25ft or so I'd say) from the surface to 10ft and from 30ft on down with peas soup in between.

Lake Washington at Madison Park Beach on the Corsair wreck was actually pretty good for the lake this morning. Probably a good 10-15ft of murky lake viz. It's probably better than the sound lately based on the reports above.

Try posting a 'want to buy' ad on Scubaboard. Somebody may have an old housing laying around that they're no longer using.

Vis this evening at Day Island Wall around slack before flood (low tide) wasn't great, but still diveable. Probably 10ft.

Re: 45 degree viewfinders
I've had the Nauticam one for several years, first using it with a Canon T2i DSLR (smallish optical viewfinder) and now with an Olympus E-M1 (larger electronic viewfinder). First I have to say that the magnification is really, really nice and I'm not even farsighted (yet). Looking through the unmagn...

Saturday at Sund Rock was a hazy 5-10ft and a warm 56F from the surface down to about 60fsw. Below that it was 25ft+ and a chillier 46F.

Re: Club Dive! Club Dive! NWDC Invades Sund Rock! 09/06/2014
It was a great day to be out on Hood Canal for the club dive. The vis when we got in for the first dive at the entry for the south wall was so crummy, we couldn't even do a bubble check! Once we got away from the shore, it got better enough to at least be divable. Below 60ft, the water got about 10 ...

FS: Olympus XZ-1, Nauticam housing, and strobes
Selling this Olympus XZ-1 complete setup. This is a high quality point-n-shoot that works very well underwater (see this review from Underwater Photography Guide-- http://www.uwphotographyguide.com/olympus-xz-1-review ). The Nauticam housing is ergonomic and made out of powder coated aluminum, so it...

Re: Sea star die-off
I was out at the tide pools at Shi Shi Beach near Point of Arches on Saturday. There were many fewer seastars than I remember seeing compared to this same weekend last year, although there were still some purple and a couple of orange ochre stars. Somebody I was with said they saw a dismembered arm,...

Cove 2 tonight around high tide was surprisingly good. 20ft or so of vis. Lots of egg yolk jellies floating around and being devoured by anemones.

Cove 2 this evening (Tuesday 7/15) at a very high tide was a cruddy 5-10ft above 35ft, but opened up pretty good below that to about 20ft or so.

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Edmonds Underwater Park was all over the place this afternoon (5/29) at high tide. Maybe as low as 5ft in the shallows on our way out and 25ft at 15fsw when we dropped with seemingly random variation at points in between. Lots and lots of tiny jellies in the water column for much of the dive.
