Re: Truth Aquatics Conception Boat Fire Tragedy

I'll never look at charging things aboard a boat again after that tragedy. I was concerned about it prior, but not like now. One of my most frequent dive buddies on LOBs used to be a complete bitch about following the crew instruction not to leave chargers unattended in the rooms, like she would do ...

Re: Big fields of sea pens at alki junkyard

I had to look up mermaid's purse, then realized I've come across them before. So cool you found one there, it's been a long time since I've seen one.

Re: UW Camera Equipment "Sale"

I had non-buyer's regret today and found the price for the Backscatter miniflash+snoot was $349, not $314, on Backscatter. Google found that Optical Ocean Sales (here in Seattle) has it for $314 (+tax; no idea if Backscatter charges tax) with free shipping. So, if you're teetering on the fence, the...

Glad someone found a deal on something they were looking for! Jess, yes I'm back in the dystopian PNW, traffic is a breeze! I've been watching Picard but not caught up yet so we'll have to hold off on discussing yet :) Kirsten, I'm with you... I'll sit this "sale" out, but who knows they m...

UW Camera Equipment "Sale"

As someone who's been stuck at home like many people lately, and therefore online more than usual, I saw an email pop into my inbox just now from Backscatter, listing a whole bunch of UW photo equipment on sale (one came in from Reef at almost the same time, probably not a coincidence). I immediatel...

Re: Down the memory line

So cool, Jan!

Your memory line runs so deep. You’ve surely forgotten more of your adventures than most of us will ever experience during our lifetimes, and you’ve got a superb memory from all that I’ve seen.

Thanks for continuing to share them with us here. This thread is so epic.

There are so many different variations of android phones and operating systems, not to mention settings. Could be one of those factors.

Re: Photo upload issue

What a stunning photo!! Well worth figuring out the metadata issue. Eric, I wonder if this is the root cause of Jess’ photo posting troubles. Can you help check her native phone camera app to see if there’s a way to limit metadata? I bet that’s why it only uploads if she does some edit- it’s probabl...

Re: Photo upload issue

Yep, YellowEye! The metadata is at the heart of these problems, I think.

I minimize it out of habit anyway.

Also, it looks like File > Save As causes some problems whereas File > Export in Photoshop allows it to be posted, even with all the metadata.

Re: Photo upload issue

Guys, can you help test something? I can confirm that saving every which way, and size doesn’t change the error. However “save for web” does allow this image to be uploaded. So far the only difference may be that a bunch of edit history metadata is stripped out when saved for web. Can you guys each ...

Re: Truth Aquatics Conception Boat Fire Tragedy

Buildings are retrofitted with reinforcement structures pretty often, based on ever evolving regulation. If buildings are a guide for boats, there will not just be one modern standard everyone has to conform to but a series of standards established in steps, presumably based on the age and type of b...
