Re: Saba Diving?

It’s supposed to be great diving!

Let me know what you find out in researching it, I may follow in your footsteps (or turn up as the third wheel[emoji48]).

Re: Club dive! Club dive! Club dive! July 28th, 9 a.m.! - Revised Date!

Trying to figure out where the PIF Box is and whether we can get it to the Club Dive. Let’s get some movement going on that box-o-sweetness!

Re: Saba Diving?

Oooh, always wanted to go. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. An instructor I met while in the Caymans (which I consider to be the best place in the Caribbean) said that Saba was his favorite, and he had been spending a year each guiding and teaching on different islands throughout the Caribb...

Re: Hood Canal Bridge

Wow, now I'm intrigued about those sharks! Was it one of these, perhaps a juvenile? What a cool infographic! Well, looking at these shapes I’m unsure still. The spiny dogfish actually has one of the less pointy tails out of those pictured. I’m thinking it definitely wasn’t the basking shark! The co...

Re: Hood Canal Bridge

The structure was mostly beds of clam shells and some abandoned crab pots and stuff. I saw two enormous tritonia diomedea which was cool, and two sharks of some kind. The first one I thought was a dogfish but I saw one larger one and it’s tail looked a bit too round to be that of a dogfish. With vis...

Re: Hood Canal Bridge

I did the dive. Lots of great critters but no dungeness big enough to eat.

Slack was also earlier than that NOAA chart, so I had light to moderate current the whole time, but it wasn’t too bad. My best guess is it was off by about a half hour to an hour.

Happy Fourth everyone!

Hood Canal Bridge

Anyone happen to know anything about the currents around the location pictured here? Specifically I’m wondering about currents here, as it’s close to the mouth of the canal. Pictured is the Hood Canal Bridge for reference. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/58cc2eed325d439b6736c658d35f98e8.jp...

Re: Deep diving PADI certification in Seattle?

Not to pile on but NAUI are definitely not the 'GUE people'. As others have said here the instructor matters more than the certifying agency. I also suggest she do her AOW rather than just the deep diving specialty. She'll learn a lot and it's a good step in furthering her dive education.

Re: NWDC Updates Underway

Phew, we made it!

Mostly refinements. The big changes are on how the data is stored and processed, but the site should work more efficiently and there should be some noticeable tweaks. It’s been a long time between updates fo sho.

Re: NWDC Updates Underway

Okay folks, most of the major back-end work is complete, and of course there is some tidying up to do in terms of minor bugs to squish. Please let me know if you see or experience anything about the board that is not working properly.

Thanks!

Interesting article! Definitely some poor pygmy seahorses out there in the world getting blinded repeatedly by light sources 100X their physical size.

Re: NWDC Updates Underway

Sorry Everyone, there were some nasty mishaps when the backend of the board was being updated. Hopefully it's under control now that some repairs were made. Please use the site as usual and post here about anything that's not working as it should. Thanks and sorry for the disruption! :thankyouyellow:

NWDC Updates Underway

Howdy Divers,

Just a friendly heads up that there are some upgrades happening on the back end of the board at this time. Please pardon any brief hiccups and feel free to PM or email me if you notice anything out of whack that persists.

Howdy Folks What a great weekend of diving! So much fun seeing everybody, and meeting several new people to the pass.
