Re: Scattering remains?

My gosh P, I just now came across this thread. I’m so sorry to hear that and you have my condolences.

About returning your father’s remains to the sea, here’s something you might consider as well:

An oldie but a goodie, and can’t find the original source but here it is:

Geez GDog, and I always thought you were asking me where my buddy was during the dive (second to last one)!

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

I just read the whole thing. Even if I only take half of what he says as the truth, that is a classic example of a state agency steamrolling over a small business. I might have taken what he’s saying with a larger (maybe 3-5 shotgun shells worth of) grain of salt, but I myself have been on the recei...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

The amount of lead naturally in the ocean environment is a mystery to me; is the gunk from scuba weights so insignificant compared to natural sources that we're worried about nothing?

That is an excellent question

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

It’s the harness that holds the soft weights I have been rinsing or soaking, and I’m too lazy to (and never thought of) remove the weights each time. I guess I’ll soon be shopping for some of those hard coated weights, though I’m pretty sure it will add bulk to the mix, it’s probably better for the ...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

please enlighten us. Sorry, that was not nice. In all seriousness though I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the milky residue. And now that we’re talking about this I realized there have been times when I soaked the whole kit and kaboodle (including weight harness and regulator) in the same tub. Hopef...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

I think he was kidding about the tungsten but that certainly would’ve made for some very low profile weights given your machinist brother and handful of tungsten!

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

That’s a good question, is the contamination just inherent in the use of soft weights in any capacity or a byproduct of the manufacturing process? (i.e., is it a one time thing or indefinite when it comes to soft weights?) I would switch to hard weights too if it’s continually bad, but if it happens...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

Happy to give them the benefit of the doubt in the meantime, but just saying there’s another side to the story but you don’t have time to tell what that is, kind of leaves a vacuum for other information to fill. As an aside, I had no idea some of our diving weights were made from leftover lead from ...

Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

Someone sent me this article today:
https://q13fox.com/2018/12/11/scuba-gea ... d-arsenic/

Why in the world would they be just dumping this hazardous waste rather than disposing of it responsibly? Unfortunate news about a local company.

I'm getting the same thing with your image. From a quick look around, it seems to be some issue with different phone and tablets' EXIF metadata. Jess, could you please see if there are any settings in whatever device you used to take this photo relating to auto-rotation? Is it happening with any oth...

Hope you’re settling into the warmer climate nicely Bob!
