Re: Apr 22 or 23
Chris, Not sure what your experience is with cold water diving...but we are starting Friday Night Experience Dives at Redondo for newer divers to practice their skills with some supervision. If you're new to cold water, come out...I'll help you get your weighing squared away, then we'll have a team ...

Re: Drysuit training
Dave, That may have been ok for you...but you had quite a few dives under your belt, right?? One of the couples (girl my student, guy not...) had less than 10 dives each. Here's the suit...and good luck?? This particular couple waited to contact me...not wanting to bother me...and tried it twice on ...

Drysuit training
Recently, I had two of my students come to me with drysuits purchased from shops in the area and asked me to teach them how to dive the suits. Apparently, the shops are selling the suits but not providing training? I'm not charging these students for the orientation...it's part of what they get for ...

Re: Instructor Liability Thread - split from "Diver Death in HC"
So...in the issues of "buddy-diving"...class aside, for a moment...would a dive professional be held "to standards" if a dive accident should occur? For example: A dive instructor who dives with the same 3 or 4 buddies on a continual basis. Not his students...just friends. They a...

Pretty sure we're having an "It's a GirlDive" on the 12th...JUST FOR YOU!! So, hold that date open. Would love to have an evening romp...but the tides are yucky.
Stay tuned and I'll let you know where it is.
Looking forward to meeting you!

Re: Instructor Liability Thread - split from "Diver Death in HC"
As far as liability...I'm not a lawyer...but a few years ago at a Vicencia & Buckley seminar at DEMA, I was awakened to the fact that even if I announce that "I'm not diving as an instructor today" and I go for a "fun dive" with a diver, if something happens...I can still be ...

Re: Death in Hood Canal
It'll be interesting to hear whether it was a class or not. I'd be interested to know the instructor, the agency, and what class it was. Someone's :bootyshake: will be in a sling. I guess that this is "ass"uming that if it's a class situation then the instructor is to blame? Or the agency...

I was taught originally to use my drysuit for buoyancy...and I always have taught that myself. EXCEPT...if you've got a neoprene neck collar...or if your latex neck seal is almost too big...then the air will escape out of the neck. Just did a drysuit clinic today in the pool...and discussed with a w...

Skaana
I've been in the Skaana system for 3 years. Permanently mounted with the latex seal OVER the rings. No equalization tube. No fat hands...no popping glove...really...no issues. Except for the time that I went diving in Canada and thought I forgot my gloves at home. Would have had to McGyver the syste...

Welcome!! It was in Colorado (down in the Springs) that I first decided to become a scuba instructor. Would have been certified in Blue Hole...but moved back to the NW on a whim...two weeks prior to my Open Water class. Took an extra year...but finally got certified out here. Really miss Colorado. I...

Join divers from Eugene
we're holding an informal dive get together at Les Davis at 1 pm this Saturday, Oct. 6. Our Eugene Skin Divers contingent (8 divers) is in town for the Dive for the Cure event, so we wanted to treat the gals to a day of diving on Saturday, as well as Sunday. If I know you're coming...there'll be hot...
