Re: Kauai

I don't know, but will certainly be interested in the responses (I'm going to be there same time frame, vacationing while the wife does a medical conference :partydance: ). I have been looking at Bubbles Below for gear rental and at least one boat dive. Doing some shore dives is also on the list... ...

If you turn the sound up, you can hear the little octo yelling "WOOOOOO, I'M FREEDIVING!!" in octopus. Huh, I thought I heard him hollering looking for his lost wolf-eel mount... "Heeeeeerrrrrreee Wolfie! <grumble>It's so HARD to find good minions these days!</grumble>" Jim

Re: Darwin missed his chance

OK, tropical waters not Puget Sound waters, but doesn't the environment and amount of light around them suggest they mixed up Metres and feet? Aside from that, holy carp! I'd have been doing a little water pollution myself at that point... Jim With good viz at mid day there is plenty of light...

I'm going to haul my gear along to our family Turkey Day feed, and Alexitt and I will be trying to go out Saturday, probably Mukilteo or EUP mid-day.

Wow, that was great! It's amazing the infrastructure those old missiles took to keep them ready to go, and you captured it very very well... Even after most of it was stripped out, the fueling system (the pumps and tanks at the end) was a reminder of the dangers those crews had to deal with every da...

Today, more Titlow - more bust. Gorgeous day, no current and best conditions in a month, dropped to 10 ft and saw we were in for some great viz. Then buddy had equipment problems - dive aborted. BUST! Yeah, it was a definite bust...        I ...

So, Jeremy - still up for tomorrow? I'm taking the day off too, I'll be at the parking lot about noon, to 12:30ish. I drive a silver/grey Honda Civic.

Bassman? Up for another dive after your Alaska adventures? :supz:

For basic photography, it's hard to beat "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Excellent intro to the relationships between shutter speed, ISO, and aperture, and it's going to apply in air and water... I don't have any UW shooting experience (yet), but I've been looking around for go...

Keep an eye on the weather ... I had been planning a trip to Hood Canal tomorrow until I looked at the forecast. They're predicting it to be windy and rainy. Rain I don't mind ... wind can affect your diving conditions .. particularly entries and exits. ... Bob (Grateful Diver) Is that because the ...

Re: The System of Organizing

Hey, at least you're not trying to put it all into a Honda Civic... That can get interesting, even for one person's gear. Stuff in totes in the back seat, another tote and a couple tanks in the trunk. I like your idea of building a rack for the tanks.

True and touching words, Curt. Of the many who serve, not so many are called upon to perform heroic deeds, but rather we sat far behind the lines (in my case, mostly in front of computers sending important weather data to places around the globe) doing the unsung tasks needed to support our brethren...

oh, just an addition, I'm not worried about checking the condition of the tank at the shop up there, just wondering about what y'all do when buying a tank off eekbay or craiglist or some street dealer... :pirate:

Bump - and adding a note (I need a tank that can be used with yoke reg set, max 3442 not the HP 3500 ones) and a question... I am taking a road trip up to B'ham tomorrow to purchase a tank from a shop up there (used tank, at a price that makes the road trip worthwhile :eric:). So I'll have one of my...
