Re: Truth Aquatics Conception Boat Fire Tragedy

Boats go up fast. and at 3am with folks asleep belowdeck... add in the possibility of filled tanks overheating and exploding, I think chances are slim for too many more survivors. Damn. Just, damn...

Beautiful shots, love that dogfish! Those are the most common thing I seem to catch, no matter if I’m chasing salmon or flounders... They never look quite so calm as this guy, for some reason!

Re: Lumpsucker on Fox Island East Wall

Great find. I saw a huge yellow one there about 6 years ago https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190203/362006608602cc64cffc4223a2628a8e.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I wonder why they live down there? doesn't seem to be much in the way of food, but clearly they are doing well. “Can you help...

Re: US Supreme Court may hear case regarding beach access

Washington is a weird state when it comes to tidelands ownership. It varies depending on the year of purchase. Some times the state sold the lands, some times they kept ownership but basically sold access, some times the extent was to different tide levels. I looked into the subject a couple years a...

Re: TIL There has only been one shark attack in Washington since 1900

I was punctured in the hand by a Spiny Dogfish one day when I caught him and was trying to release him back. There's a reason for their name... Bled quite freely all over my kayak. Darn little goober of a fish!

Re: Looking For A Snorkel/Free Diving Dive Buddy

I've only snorkeled in Hawaii, but when I sold off my cold-water gear I did keep mask/snorkel/fins/weights. My plan is to try snorkeling here locally, using my kayak fishing drysuit. I can't take the weight of tanks and such anymore, but i still want to have my play time... I've seen some fascinatin...

Great pics! As someone else with a geology degree, I'd have been one of the people trying to look down into the hot orange cracks! Sad as it is when people are displaced by Madam Pele, what's happening now is frickin' awe-inspiring (and the HVO folks are learning a lot from it).

Re: Free lead, yes there’s a catch.

What the heck would rec diving vs Tech diving care about the lead? It's bits of incompressible metal sewn up in cloth bags - nothing that would change with depth or time... Curiousity is killin' this cat!

Epic indeed...

My sister did one of those snorkeling excursions when she and my mom did a 2-week drive around the island a few years ago, even that would've been fantastic!
