Re: Diving around Portland / Vancouver?
i enjoy Netarts bay as much as I can. I have a vacation home 200 ft from the entry so it is kind of a no brainer. Sometimes I go crabbing, sometimes pictures, sometimes just for the heck of it. Anything to stay wet and keep the gills from growing over. On a good day you will find monkeyface prickleb...

Kauai bound
My family and myself are going to Kauai April 14th--April 24th. I'm looking to get a day of diving in while there. Is anybody else looking to get wet in that time period. I have been diving for probably 10+ years currently have 198 dives logged, and looking to get #200 in Hawaii. As far as diving go...

Re: Kauai diving recommendations?
Ditto for Seaport divers. Did a boat dive with them to Sheraton caverns. Also koloa landing. Get there early as it is where the classes go for checkout dives. For diving it is not Maui or thr big island, especially in the winter when the north and east are rough. If you could get a boat trip up the ...

Re: Maui in Feb.
I have been to Maui several times and always went with ProDiver and shore diving on the south end. But this time we are going to the North end and I get lost even finding the beaches up there.

Re: Sea star die-off
I dove Netarts bay Father's day. At that time I found several sea stars and starfish in definate distress. Two weeks later, at the same location, sadly there was not a starfish to be found. Netarts bay has been a prolific place for marine life as there is very little fresh water into the bay. It wil...

Re: Italy
Yeh, I read Spatmans account of diving in Italy. What a hoot. That exact thing is what I want to avoid. I don't know yet if diving is in the plan, because, yes there is a lot of rich history and culture to explore. But that being said, diving amongst ancient Roman ruins is on the bucket list.

Re: Kauai
No, I just found the regular spots. Koloa landing is good. Be sur to get ther early, as p[arking sucks and later it gets silted right in front from all the classes. There seems to be more structure to the right, and gets deeper left. If this is the first time in warm water one thing you need to real...

I don't know, but will certainly be interested in the responses (I'm going to be there same time frame, vacationing while the wife does a medical conference :partydance: ). I have been looking at Bubbles Below for gear rental and at least one boat dive. Doing some shore dives is also on the list......

Going to Kauai in early April. Does anybody know some good shore diving spots that are easily accessible? I have dove koloa landing a couple of times. I think it is too early for the North, West, or east shore. shorediving USA has some sites but the majority are snorkle sites. If you ask around the ...

Welcome Doug! Do you know how sparky is doing these days? Let us know when you are up around the Hood Canal area, specifically Sund Rock and surrounding areas. Maybe we can do a couple of dives and share some "Sparky" stories. :supz: Oh, and it would help if it's on a Thursday (For my sch...

OK it's time
Hi guys and gals, I've been lurking in the back long enough. I joined the board in 2006, at Sparky's urging. I reside in Oregon in the small town of Forest Grove. Diving is my passion, whenever possible. Usually about every 2 weeks, mostly at the Oregon coast. Although occassionally North to Hood Ca...

Well, mission accomplished. If anybody has the same problem, it is relatively easy to do. I took some real sharp diaginol cutters and cut the tabs right below the spot welds on the old battery, and removed it. Then I took the new battery, ( with tabs spot welded on from batteries plus), and put it i...

Re: Kauai bound
Just got back from Kauai. Beautiful island. Koloa landing is the place on the south shore where everyone dives and has there checkout dives for c-cards. I dove both directions left and right, both were good. The first part of April the north shore was still closed for watersports. It might be open b...
