Re: Edmonds - Another weekend...another diver

Our prayers too, Tolmie is another, long surface swim to get to the barges or any depth at all but it looks "not too bad". I hate seeing this stuff happen, makes us all look bad sometimes. And not to start another training thread, but...... One of my pet issues, turning out folks then not ...

Re: Grey whale on Alki in West Seattle

Cool somebody has seen it in the flesh up close to shore. We were diving Titlow for a class check-out in late February and saw the characteristic divots from them feeding in the pilings, the ones by shore, not the old ferry slip, thought it strange that close to shore but the evidence was there. Nic...

Status of the pilings @ Titlow

Does anybody know the latest on the removal of the pilings at Titlow, it seems all us Oregon folks have is rumor and it's hard to plan check-outs when we don't know if there's going to be a divable site. Titlow has been our 'ol reliable' for years and my youngest was about beside himself when he fou...

Re: Fatality at Sund Rock 3/22/09

Thanks for the condolences folks, I'll pass them on and that's really where we need to be at this point. At least till there's a chance to get final arrangements completed, services performed and to actually find out exactly what went wrong. I can tell you their training was not lacking for her leve...

Re: Fatality at Sund Rock 3/22/09

Jauna was a fiend of my wife and I and will be sorely missed. I can't give the full details of the accident yet but can surmise it that, as with most dive accidents, there seemed to be a culmination of events and little mistakes that added up to a major malfunction. I'll let you guys know more when ...

Detroit is full, or awful close.
I won't be that way til late January. sorry.
But if we don't get too much more rain between now & Christmas the muck should settle down.

Sorry to say but everywhere I've checked at least around Clackamas county lately is either chocolate milk, too snowed in, too much debris, inaccessible, or combination thereof. We've had some pretty rough weather too. I suppose Detroit is about the same right now but if the rain slows some we may ge...

Don't know about the suits personally, but to me when I can't get ahold of a company or get straight info easily on the phone I think twice about dealing with them at all. If they're hard to get before the sale how will they be when you have a problem and really need help. There's os and usia that a...

Thanks too for the info, first hand claims experience is the best recommendation, and sometimes it's hard to get a good sampling.

Hagg lake, Timothy lake, Trillium, Clear, Estacada, Roslyn, there's a few available although access to some is getting dicey and the vis sucks right now at most, about 0 due to runoff. Need to check Hagg this week, hopefully it has vis.

Welcome fellow webfoot.
With the size of the Oregon contingent we're going to have a meet&greet dive soon.
pm if you're coming to the Portland area and we could hit the lake.

As I understand it you would have to completely purge the argon before using the tank again for air, although inert it's an asphixiant and bad for you. Tanks must be marked "Argon-do not breath" and it'd be a hassle to mark/unmark your tank. Best to dedicate a tank and be safe. I've only b...

Sorry I'm not close enough to be convenient but I recently did the same switch and have had to adjust my behavour to reflect those of Argon.
Talk about reprogramming.....but I'm glad I took the plunge.
Enjoy the warm! \:D/

Thanks for the warm welcome and dive offers, I look forward to taking you up on them. There are quite a few fun dives to be had in the local lakes and rivers, like the Clackamas river at High Rocks in Gladstone Oregon. Fun for treasure hunting in the summer, too dangerour this tie of year though. Wi...
