Re: Balanced Octo
Koos, The stupidity of the Poseiden upstream valve aside, which is a totally different issue... It can happen. I personally have seen it happen in demonstration. And, at least until 12 years ago, that is why SP was always very clear in regulator maintainence courses that an unbalanced second should ...

Re: Balanced Octo
Sorry, should add, that the alternative to an unbalanced backup is to place a small OPV on the first stage. Basically, an unbalanced reg acts as an OPV, so you need something else if you are using a balanced reg.

Re: Balanced Octo
Your backup reg should be unbalanced. This is a basic gear requirement of DIR for a reason. Not trying to push the whole system, but the reason behind its requirement is important. A balanced reg will not burp air if you have an IP pressure creep, because it constantly balances using the IP pressure...

Re: Found GoPro 3
I underestimated the time the GoPro has been in the water. If you know someone that lost one on May 8th, let me know. That's the date stamp on the video.

Found GoPro 3
Found a Gopro 3 at Alki today in about 60-70 feet of water. Set up in a very unique way. If someone you know has recently lost a gopro there (probably in last few weeks given very light barnacle cover), have em message me with a description so I can get it back to you/them.

Re: Mk17 or Mk25 for the NW?
I second most of Koos' comments. And FWIW...if you have a MK25 freeflow around here...it is primarily because the service was crap. Doesn't matter if they were done "professionally". Very few of the tech monkeys at shops actually know what they are doing. I can show you some nice pics of &...

Well Capt, that's better than the burning elsewhere that typically happens with this particular form of economy.

Re: Scooter DIY stuff
I have the same setup on my scoot. It is WAY easier to maintain an accurate heading than using a compass on the handle. As a rule of thumb for navigation, the farther out in front of you that the compass is and still easily seen, the easier it is to maintain heading accurately. The other benefit to ...

Added pics. The BC's are all in good working condition, no leaks, rips or tears, etc. They have not seen too horribly many dives, although I can't really say how many. I am selling them for a friend of mine, they were his loaner BC's for visitors, etc.

Re: A wing ding deal for new BP/W wannabes
I'm in the same range as Rooinator. With HP100's, my TLS350 and Halo 3D over powerstretch base layer I use a 4-5 lb tail weight. Still negative below 500psi. If I am carrying stages or deco (which I basically never do with my 100's, usually my 104's) I use a 7lb v-weight.
