Actually, those are used by some disabled divers who have no/limited use of their legs. My brother-in-law with cerebral palsy was quite successful with them.
So, you can put your popcorn away.

Cup of white vinegar in your rinse bucket. Don't rinse it out. Let it dry. They will temporarily smell like pickles, but the stink will be gone.

Re: Northwest Dive and Travel Show Photo Contest Ringer
Does anyone know if the entry deadline was extended? I looked at the galleries on the Expo website a week or two before the Expo (was orignally looking for Expo times and stumbled across the galleries). The website at that point said that the entry deadline had passed. However, not only do I not rec...

I have had an external hard drive go bad...it sucks. Luckily, I had a back-up. If not, I would've lost roughly 50,000 photos. Whatever method you chose, make a back-up!!!

Great shots! I love the Cockerell's Dorid shots--those are not easy to get considering how tiny they are.

Re: Cozumel on the cheap
We stayed at Scuba Club Cozumel a few years back, and we loved it. Food is good. The entire hotel is geared for diving--it's not just a hotel that offers diving. It is semi close to town, and you could walk there if you really wanted to. SCC is not a 5-star resort by any means, but we really liked i...

Gull Island is stinky, very very stinky. But if I remember right, the dive was great! I remember lots of purple urchins and glorious kelp.

Re: E-PL1 Users Group
I notice that your ISO is steady at 100, and that your shutter speed varies between 1/60 and 1/80, and your F stop between 3.5 and 5.6. Are you manually varying those settings? The only other variation I see is between 14mm & 42mm, which I am assuming is you zooming all the way in and all the w...

The ling cod are at Keystone. Countless, big ones, little ones, ugly ones, ones on eggs, ones with two-toned heads. Ling cod--everywhere at Keystone!

I need to have some general success taking pictures that turn out reasonably well. Suggestions for general settings, 1+2' away, single strobe, (not that powerful) not macro? With or without the macro lens, I've been having success using apeture priority mode (can't remember if it's A or AV on this ...

After dive 2, I charge the battery. It may be a day or two or even a week before the next dive.fmerkel wrote:Are you charging the camera just before a dive?

Re: E-PL1 Users Group
I've been getting two solid dives out of a battery charge with it still showing a full charge afterwards. I haven't yet wanted to push it to see if I could get a third or fourth dive. On the other hand, my Sea & Sea YS-01 strobe seems to be using significantly more battery juice in TTL than it d...

Tom, I haven't had that problem, but I remember something in that link that Dusty posted a few days ago. Here it is: 2) Live View Boost - this is very important so that you can see your LCD underwater. This mode disables the live view of exposure settings, since underwater shooting with a strobe, us...

Fritz, wet lens/macro conversion lens--yes. At f11, the DOF is not really that narrow.
