Not only does it have to be miserable for you but for students who are going to experience diving for the first time! I did my first dives in 35ish degree weather, with an instructor who had never dove here before and was totally new to the area. Right before we got into the water, we got thunder an...

One other consideration is bulb durability. One drop with the Dive Rite and you'll be cringing and hoping God is smiling on you, whereas the Salvo bulb is fairly robust. Why does this matter, you may ask. HID bulbs are around $100 . . . This isn't true with the new bulbs they are using. Mine was re...

One last question: What agency taught you and your buddies to wreck dive using splits? Seems like wreck penetration with splits is also a bit outside accepted norms. Agencies don't teach, Instructors teach using agency standards and if I'm not mistaken most will allow you to dive in splits. They ma...

I hope they can maintain the same good humor when the entire DIR gathering descends on them in October, and they're looking at filling doubles for 20 divers . . . ! Somehow I suspect Matt will be able to maintain a sense of humor ... ... Bob (Grateful Diver) If the world were on fire, everyone was ...

Re: Just a public thank you to NWSD
These are the reasons why I keep going far far far out of my way to get my tanks filled. Just awesome people all around.
Plus I could never imagine getting any training from anywhere else now, I've seen the light yeee haw!

yeah they are still there but easily missed if you're not paying attention.Pinkpadigal wrote:I haven't been to Cove 2 in a while but there used to be signs posted warning divers to stay outside the boundary line.
Not that anyone pays attention to the signs anyway, but I did see them last time I was there.

Very scary, I'm sure they felt like a real tool by the time they got back up onto shore, but still maybe someone hadn't previously spoken to them about the boundary line, it is quite easy to miss the line if you're scooting along the bottom silting as you. ;) In all seriousness though I know I've se...

Re: Cove 2
I drove by cove 2 & 3 yesterday to see where they are. Looks like the boat traffic can get pretty close, how critical is a diver down flag there? I noticed the signs that reccomended one. One of these days I'd like to try out this site with someone familliar with it.. BTW, I love my wet suit bu...

I forgot to mention my computer. I'm currently using the IQ-700 (hockey puck made by Seiko, used by Apex, Tusa, dive rite and a couple others). The computer itself is awesome, easy to navigate and understand. Everything needed is easily visible while on a dive and it's nitrox and two tank (different...

Oceanic VT3 with wireless transmitter - never had a problem and thoroughly enjoy it. Still have an spg clipped off to my left belt d-ring. I have a friend who uses a similar layout and the same computer, if something does go wrong and it will it's good to know your remaining air pressure at least. ...

Re: researching my first dive computer, would value your opi
i'm getting close to purchasing my very first dive computer. there are so many options out there, i find it difficult to determine what i should get. what i do know is that i would like something relatively easy to use, nitrox compatible, good for cold water with the occasional tropical vacation, a...

We have waterproof dive rite and XS scuba notebooks in the shop (NWSD). the XS scuba ones are really cool; a bit of elastic to keep it closed and they look pretty much bombproof. Both come with pencils. Yeah I've been thinking about those, I'm still debating at this point how much I want to spend. ;)
