Re: When You Need Lunch On The Go...
When I was in okinawa we used to see these guys riding shotgun on top of cowrie shells sometimes. It took me a full year to realize that "sea cabbies" were, infact, Nudi's!

Buddy breathing is not in NAUI either (except in the Divemaster program) I'm not 100% on OW AOW but I did my Master Diver in early 2010 through NAUI and I had to do the buddy breathing, the 50' swim w/o a reg or a mask to my buddy and then buddy breathe back to my mask. The 50' swim and buddy breat...

Re: Intro and a couple questions
I'd love to go with ya, but I'm deployed right now, man. If you still have base access, you can go to north fort and get a fill pretty cheap. In my (short) experience with the PNW, their air bank at fort lewis scuba was broke down half the time. Tacoma scuba was good too! A little more expensive tha...

Re: WetSuit Recommends?
I was rockin' a Bare 7/6 all last winter that worked fine for me. It's only about $250. But then again I tried diving the 3 mil that I moved here with. I finished the dive but it wasn't one of the better decisions I've ever made... My log book learned a few new words.

Glad you found you rig, man! Bet you're OCD about it from now on. I left my computer on the bumper of my car a couple years ago, luckily it didn't fall off until I pulled into my driveway. I found it the next day lol. But I haven't lost as much as a slate since then!

If you really dig these guys, do them a big fav and give them the business of buying your books through them. I'll assure you that they will not see it as a bother in ANY way and they'll appreciate your business. Okay. Yea, I've seen how busy they got when it was cold outside so I can only imagine ...

NAUI DM course question
Hey guys! So I've emailed Tacoma Scuba about taking a DM class there through NAUI and Josh told me that they do offer it. I'm currently deployed to afghanistan though, so I wanted to buy the books and study while I'm here and take the DM course when I get back. I know NAUI allows their Instructors m...

Re: I need a new reg set or matching reg
Yea that's about what I paid for my first D1. I'd like it used though 1) cause as I said I'm notoriously cheap and 2) if it's used it'll match the one I already have haha. I scored a hurricane on CL a while back though for $150 plus about $100 to have it serviced. Seems like most people on CL want w...

There will be a bunch of NWDC stickers to hand out at the upcoming club dive on February 19th. Sweet. Cause I'm going to the sand box soon and I want one to put on my truck! I may even be able to advertise a little with it... http://youtu.be/uPLnHDAA2Z4 Pardon my foul language. It was a good mood l...

What is Helen Keller's favorite color? -Corduroy Dude, I almost fell out of my chair laughing at that one! Out of context as it may be, this is the only joke I know. So there is a battalion of marines walking through a valley on a training mission. A paratrooper pops his head over the ridge line, l...

Re: Mildly Amusing
Dear padi, If you must take peoples money for a buoyancy specialty, you really aught to rethink your curriculum. Seems like "Peak buoyancy performance" should be something that the most novice of divers should leave the class with. Sincerely, One of your OW divers who crossed over to the d...

I need a new reg set or matching reg
Anybody have a DR Hurricane, HOG D1, or a cheap balanced din style reg set? I'm dying to get my doubles up! I'm obviously a cheap-o or I'd buy them new. If you have one for a reasonable price hit me up!

Re: Seeking a diving mentor
Or just hook up with people on here and dive a lot. ask questions, observe, and apply what you learn. Mostly its about repetition and absorbing skills. There are many great divers on this board that would love to pass information on. This, of course, is my opinion. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapata...

Yea dude. I live on north fort. I'm a master diver and game for pretty much anything. I'm not too thrilled with surge but it don't seem to be much of a problem around here lol. Wouldn't be able to make it every week as I have a second job, but let me know! hooah707@yahoo

Re: AOW Certification
Contrary to popular entry level dive curriculum, there are no scuba police dude. If you're aimed at getting better at your underwater skills, team up with another competent diver and practice with them. They teach you everything you need to know in OW. You can calculate your bottom time at 60 feet. ...

Reminds me of the story from "Diver Down" where a guy hopped off a boat in doubles without his air on. No inflation, nothing to breathe, and 100lbs of anchor on his back... Holy cow! Haha yea this wasn't that hairy! I think I do remember reading a story like that (deep descent maybe?) abo...

Re: Dive rite hurricane
Well I went ahead and bought it. I'm turning it in for a ($ 50) service. But it ought to be the last one I pay for as I ought to be tech certified by the time service is due again. So far as I've seen service kits are <$ 20. Thank you all for your advice though! It was very helpful!

Dive rite hurricane
I'm about to buy a dive rite hurricane. I have a lot of dive rite stuff but never dive one of their regs. Any bitches/gripes on this reg? It seems pretty solid and I'm getting it for a third of the price which is my main motivation since I'm notoriously cheap : p

Where were you stationed in oki? That's where almost all of my dives are! Ahh how I miss the toilet bowl! Crazy as it sounds that was hands down the best dive site I've ever been to! Hedo was a close second but being on the point, conditions went from 0-60 in a matter of minutes :(

Jeff, Cant give ya much advice on a drysuit but I dove a zeagle tech for a long time. Infact I believe I'm wearing it in my avatar shot and It's a great bc! However it's expensive and can't actually be used in a tech class. They made me get a backplate and harness style bc. If you're a minimalist th...
