Re: Braving the Cold? MMM 12/19/11
Donning gear in the dark... I just dont like doing it, never have. Even less, coming back out in the dark. My back and I have tenuous relationship. A wrong twist or slide, etc, and it lets me know of its unhappiness. In the dark type stuff has that risk for me, and if the dice come up snake eyes, I'...

I feel so relieved to know they fairly evaluated it yet a second time and came up with the same result.

Anyone diving friday?
I can take the day off if I want.
Suppose I'd like to do something different, like EUP, or Fox Island Wall, or someplace I havent down in the south ebd yet.
(Doing Titlow on saturday). Maybe even Harpers Ferry, or Hood Canal (sund rock?).

Re: Getting together a group to buy a compressor
As a hack, you use a big bucket run a hose into it, and just let it overflow, this getting a fresh supply of 55d water

For cooling your tanks you could recirculate they water like atig welder cooler, and keep that water cool

For me, I've found the frog kick more effort that a scissor kick.
Once Bob squared me away on my flutter kick, it's almost effortless for me now.
I just use the frog when I need minimal propulsion

Re: Tides Tavern dock, New Years Day
I've got a couple of spare AL80's. thats the best I can do. Mucho Grassy-ass, Jeff, but unless Santa really comes thru with another HP100 under the tree I'll likely just get one from the dive shop for a second... A second tanks and a BC (or BP/W) is all the major gear items I need to acquire. Then ...

yea, its a fairly big exchange still, so timing and a smiling upon us diving god, and we should be ok, but ready to call the dive if timing is off.

I know, its a tough choice, but I think a zodi opens spots I could still do with a scooter, and opens yet more.

Re: How much help do we need?
Listen to what Dusty said about getting Bob for a weekend. I did, and its the best 200$ on diving I've ever spent. So much less headache. Helped me setup my gear, made sure it was all right, tricks and tips on wearing, donning/doffing, then the water work. Yea, I thought I could do it myself too bec...

Chicken and the egg
Suggestions for a personal compressor? I've heard nice nice about the Bauer's, but spendy.
I could spend 1500 maybe 2g on a compressor, but most everything except unknown used ones are 3k plus plus.

Getting together a group to buy a compressor
Maybe its a pipe dream, but has anyone ever thought about a group of folks chipping in to buy a compressor? Geographic proximity would have to be a factor. I would think such a group buy would involve everyone into a binding legal contract (like ownerships, rights, location of unit, access, liabilit...

Re: I want an air-integrated computer, what do you think?
That makes sense, and I don't want to be one of those new divers that make a big mistake!I don't want to run out of gas and not know it,but can you have a gas gauge and a air-intigrated computer, and both reading your gas at the same time?(ie have a gas gauge as a back-up) If your AI goes out, dive i...

Re: I want an air-integrated computer, what do you think?
BDub makes a good point, and why I still have my Vyper wrist computer. I just use it for BT and depth. That way since I've learned from Bob to keep my hands out Superman style, my wrist computer is right there to watch depth and dive time. Plus when using left hand on the BCD inflator, can watch dep...

Re: Some thoughts
As a new diver and new member, I think some members need to temper their advice to the level and knowledge of the person asking for it. New divers are asking for help and wisdom, but they aren't (and may never even be) a DIR, Tech, GUE, or whatever super charged, adrenaline filled, wreck diving, dee...

Re: I want an air-integrated computer, what do you think?
The only reason I've understood so far for air integrated, is so that you can easily calc your SAC (Oceanic 2.1 Pro Plus) and the download software does it for me. Its interesting to mentally go over the dive, and see what my air consumption changed. (What was I doing?) My first dive kit was an SPG,...
