Re: Aviator visits underwater site of 1974 crash

St. Augustine is also the site of an artificial reef made up of A-6 Intruders (there used to be a re-work facility in St. Augustine that installed the new, composite wing on the jets). A-7s were light attack, A-6s medium, all-weather attack, but both were in their prime during about the same timefra...

Andrea Doria article

This article from the March issue of Northeast Dive News provides an overview of Andrea Doria diving and could be an intro for my presentation. Any clubs, stores, or organizations that are interested in hosting a presentation on the Andrea Doria and book signing for Setting the Hook: A Diver's Retur...

Thanks for coming to the Andrea Doria presentation today

Thank you everyone who came to the Whidbey Island Dive Center today to spend some time talking about the Andrea Doria, and I especially appreciate the 20 or so folks from out of town who worked the event into their diving schedule. It was a great group and I enjoyed it immensely, particularly answer...

Re: Any active divers with Parkinson's?

All, Thanks very much for the suggestion, ideas, and concerns. PD is a bit tricky because no one can predict how it will progress and when, and the moment one thinks they discern a pattern, it is liable to change, perhaps subtly, or at times drastically. Caution and full disclosure are good rules to...

Re: Any active divers with Parkinson's?

Good suggestions, thanks. I think that if a specialized BC becomes necessary than I will call it a day. I do have a big responsibility to assisting my buddy if needed, and that much limitation wouldn't be fair (or probably fun). Boy, a full face mask is a big expense if I'm getting ready to call it ...

Re: Any active divers with Parkinson's?

Richard, My right side's the one going bad - good to know we've got a full up system between the two of us (sort of). I took mirapex for a couple years, the sleep issues made me try requip, but there's no difference that I can tell, with either effectiveness or not screwing up sleep. I haven't got a...

Re: Any active divers with Parkinson's?

HI Richard, I too stopped deco and all tech stuff as soon as diagnosed, but have been making relatively simple (and getting simpler) dives for the past seven years. Currently I am about maxed out on Sinemet, Comtan, Requip, and Azilect. When I say maxed out, I mean that if dosage or frequency is inc...

Re: Any active divers with Parkinson's?

To all replies, Thanks much; I appreciate the advice and sentiments. I absolutely agree with the "look in the mirror" type responses, and that will always have the final say, but in the interim I was hoping to gather some insight as to what others have experienced physically. Parkinson's a...

Re: Any active divers with Parkinson's?

I contacted them a long time ago, but the disease is different for all afflicted and the med.s have different effects as well. In short, I don't believe that there is any sort of firm answer, so in lieu of that I'm trying to learn from the experiences of others (if there are any...). Thanks for the ...

Any active divers with Parkinson's?

Any active divers out there with Parkinson's disease? I was diagnosed with early onset about seven years ago (when I was 43), and am starting to consider when to "call the dive" forever, so to speak. Thanks.
