Re: Used tank sale.....Cleaning out the garage
Can I get some information on the Faber HP 65s? Steel or Aluminum? Buoyancy characteristics? Length and diameter? I just hunted up four LPS 72s, got them hydrostatically tested and visually inspected, put new new pro valves and boot on them. My wife dove them three times and decided that she did not...

Junkyard 19 Oct 12
We saw two Grunt Sculpins, three Gunnels, and one Wolf Eel on ONE pile on this dive. Visibility was about 20 feet, water temperature was about 54 degrees, and we spent 57 minutes at 61 feet. Nice warm breakfast followed. Thanks to Heidi, Val, Rhys, and Todd for a great time.

Re: Old Gear! Oh My! Need advice!
I have a dive rite transplate (back plate and wing) that you could try and a transpac (ballistic harness and wing) that you could try as well. Both are sized for an Xl diver. I like to ability to customize them and the range of sizes that they can accommodated. I expect that they will last forever g...

Re: dunking/rinsing an alt air
Poseidon regulators need to be pressurized when rinsed (owners manual and tag on the interior of the regulator bag) since they are upstream regs. I rinse my ScubaPros and Oceanics either way, for years, with no problems.

Re: Diving in the Turks, St. Thomas, and/or Suan Juan
If the cruise ship doesn't already have arrangements, I would try to get to a dive operation in Fajardo. I dove with them a couple of times and it was a good time. Fajardo is in the east; in the past few years the PR dive industry has really livened up and they have a number of operators in the west...

Re: South Africa Caged Shark Diving- any suggestions?
Don't do it! Caged shark diving is just training the sharks to associate divers with chum balls and eating. Caged shark diving is no more shark diving than riding a roller coaster is flying.

Re: What Fins Do You Use & Why?
I normally dive APS Mantas because they are light, come with spring straps, and I can frog kick with them. I dive Apollo biofins with my drysuit and can really stir up the seafloor with them. My wife uses Jetfins (with a split) for all her diving and enjoys them. She, and a few of my friends, do not...
