Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

please enlighten us. Sorry, that was not nice. In all seriousness though I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the milky residue. And now that we’re talking about this I realized there have been times when I soaked the whole kit and kaboodle (including weight harness and regulator) in the same tub. Hopef...

Do you use soft shot weights? I did many years ago and the corrosion off the lead was milky white and I assume it had a bunch of lead in it.

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

That’s a good question, is the contamination just inherent in the use of soft weights in any capacity or a byproduct of the manufacturing process? (i.e., is it a one time thing or indefinite when it comes to soft weights?) I would switch to hard weights too if it’s continually bad, but if it happen...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

How does arsenic get in lead shot? If it's just inherent in it, how is that allowed? As CaptnJack points out, that stuff was banned a long time ago. There shouldn't be any around. Soft weights for divers: They are ubiquitous, not just a Seasoft product. After using them awhile I noticed a milky exu...

Re: Water in SPG Gauge

Those do that after awhile. I own several of them and have seen other peoples leak too. The good part is the gauge doesn't stop working right away so you have time to buy another one.

Re: Local flight with a scuba tank - is it doable?

A few times we flew Alaska to Cancun. They allowed a "Scuba gear". which consisted of a BCD, Reg, suit and such in one suitcase under 50 lb and a tank in another bag, also under 50 lb but the 2 together weighed lots more than 50lb. All for the $25 bag fee. This is why most of my AL80's are...

Driftwood Park juvenile Wolf-eels, some like live in old tires and some in discarded bottles and glass jars. Never have I seen an adult here or the nearby Keystone Jetty. https://photos.smugmug.com/Other/New-Arrivals/i-mtbmc5W/0/b1b0727c/XL/5.19.18%20Wolf-eel%20juvenile%20-XL.jpg https://photos.smu...

Might you need another pound or two of lead? I get water in my BCD when I dive so light that I am struggling to get the last of the air out.

Re: Dry Suit Question

I wear 44 lbs with my drysuit. I could dive with a lot less but I want the insulation. With a full tank I sink like a rock when I let the air out of my BCD with my shoulder valve open. With a nearly empty tank I can keep some air in my suit for warmth while holding 10 feet or less but my BCD will be...

Re: Sund Rock Changes

Sund Rock is our most common dive destination because our group has schedules and when we find a date we can all dive the tides may not be good for other locations. Our last trip we missed a day diving Sund because we didn't call TWO days ahead to arrange access, only ONE day. Often we do 3 day trip...

And the bad part is they were BOTH there.

Actually It was great to talk to them. I had met Tom before when he displaced much more water but I don't believe I had met Bassman.
