Re: Swimmer's ear remedy

I have deep ear canals and get ear infections about once a year. 50/50 vinegar and alcohol is great! Vinegar kills fungus and the alcohol kills the bacteria. I take it a step further. I got a medical squeeze bottle https://www.amazon.com/Economy-Bottle-Squeeze-Medical-Tattoo/dp/B00WTHLR2M/ref=sr_1_1...

Re: North Beach, Port Townsend WA

I'm looking to do this dive soon. Planning to freedive and drift dive it with an incoming tide to point wilson. In calm weather this would be a great choice for freediving. If it's too rough, maybe Fort Worden or around the piers in Port Townsend. Thanks. I dove it on Saturday with a 12ft incoming ...

Re: Strongest currents

Warren Avenue Bridge receives my honorable mention for number two :) Outside that, how is that dive? I was skeptical of the dive initially but have to say it was one of the best dives in Puget Sound that I have done. Definitely up there with Deception Pass! I liked it better than DIW, Watermans Wal...

Bertha Stuck, Divers might be used...

So the Big tunneling machine is stuck under Seattle. It is 60' underground and they dont know what it ran into. I have heard on the news, and mentioned in this article http://mynorthwest.com/11/2412946/Officials-still-have-no-idea-whats-blocking-Bertha that they might need to use divers to inspect/r...

Re: Clallam Bay diving ?

I heard there is awesome diving there at slip point! There are huge house sized boulders in 60ft water. (so i am told.) I am unsure the exact location but i think it is inside the bay toward the buoy. For those that fish out there you know that the area is prone to violent waves and currents so not ...

Haven't seen the movie..BUT i am a glutton for punishment. Consider the cultural aspect of seaworld and zoo's all over the world. Sure the animals are not in their natural environment but that is the point. They are able to be witnessed by all different cultures who otherwise would never see them an...

Re: Help me understand tides and currents

I used to think that slack meant no current and was always perplexed when fishing out of Sekiu that even two hours after slack the current would still be ripping at 2-3 knots. Made me think about it. What i realized that tide predictions are only water level, not water flow (current). If the point y...

Re: Dive Planning

EDIT: I forgot the #1 thing to say regarding currents...DO NOT SWIM HEAD ON INTO CURRENTS IN AN EMERGENCY! YOU WILL RUN OUT OF ENERGY QUICKLY! If you find yourself off course and the current working against you you have a few options...Swim perpendicular to the current toward shore or safety. If tha...

Re: Dive Planning

Tides are big slow waves. They are estimates and can vary depending on weather. The most accurate tides are the ones at the reporting station, the farther from the reporting station, the less accurate the tide prediction. Using your 9/28, 11:40am example... http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/noaatidep...

Re: Thinking about moving to WA - where is the good diving?

How lucky you are...I was born and raised here in Washington state and my roots are in the South Kitsap Area. If i were from out of state and moving into the state i would pick Sequim all day long...It is the driest place in Western Washington. It is also in a fantastic location, Especially for divi...

I dive the Dive Rite harness. Very adjustable and i love the simplicity. I dont use a plate of any kind,it is all nylon. It is rugged, simple and streamlined. I recommend it.

I dove Les Davis during the advisory. Still here and did not get sick... Re: Sekiu Jetty - 8-12-2013

Dont bother diving the Jetty. It is shallow and nothing but sandy bottom. No life to see. I also dove south of the Jetty near one of the buoys in Clallam bay. I was looking for crab. No crab to be seen but lots of geoducks. The bottom in the bay is around 30-40 ft. There are random boulders and lots...
